Today ONA spoke up yet again about workplace violence in our hospitals. Rick Lucas, RN, President and Executive Director, along with Jacinta Tucker, RN, Vice-President, at ONA testified in favor of Ohio House Bill 452 (HB452) - The Healthcare Workplace Safety Act. This bill proposes mandatory security plans, an incident reporting system, and enforceable standards against aggressive behaviors to healthcare providers in our hospitals. These plans would be reviewed annually and submitted to the Ohio Department of Health to ensure compliance. Thank you to all of the nurses, doctors, ONA staff, and supporters of healthcare professionals who attended the hearing today. WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT! ✊🤟 #HB452 #WorkplaceViolence #CodeRed #EndWorkplaceViolence #SafeAtWork #SafetyMattersMost #SafeCare

“So we have to have something that actually enforces the standards for these hospitals. Because it’s one thing to have it there (but) if they violate it every day, then that still is not getting patients care, and that’s what this is about.” - Catharyne Henderson, RN, and Ohio Nurses Association Health Policy Council Chair. #CodeRed #SafeStaffingSavesLives #SafeCare #HouseBill285SavesLives

Enough is enough! It is our right and our freedom, to work in environments where we're not constantly overburdened or fearing for our safety. Join us for Nurses and Health Professionals Lobby Day on April 24th and let your voice be heard! Nurses and health professionals must draw a line in the sand and unite like never before in support of laws and policies that grant us the freedom to care for our patients safely and without the constant threat of harm. Healthcare executives and their deep-pocketed lobbyists in Columbus have been relentless in their efforts to intimidate our legislators from backing Ohio House Bill 285 and other critical legislation aimed at improving our working conditions. #Understaffing #PatientCareCrisis #HealthcareProfessionals #OhioNurses #Ohio #SafeStaffing #SafeStaffingSavesLives #SafeAtWork #SafeCare #CodeRed #HB285 #SafeStaffingRatios #SafetyMattersMost #PatientsMatter #NursesMatter #HealthProfessionalsMatter
Come and join us for Nurses & Health Professionals Lobby Day (formerly Nurses Day at the Statehouse NDASH) at the Ohio Statehouse! This year’s theme, “Understaffing = Patient Care Crisis.” Let's join together as healthcare professionals with the common value of safe patient care, identifying the broken link of safe staffing, and presenting collective action and legislative advocacy as the vision for our solution, we aim to mobilize nurses, health professionals, and allies toward a future where safe staffing is not just an ideal, but a reality. #Understaffing #PatientCareCrisis #HealthcareProfessionals #OhioNurses #Ohio #SafeStaffing #SafeAtWork #SafeCare #CodeRed #HB285 #RecruitRetainRNs #SafeStaffingRatios #SafetyMattersMost #PatientsMatter #NursesMatter
