One Learning Community

Yet another year has passed, and once again our team and platform helped support a vibrant #StandardsInstitute in sunny Denver, CO. UnboundEd's largest in-person professional development training made full use of the Digital Ecosystem, a collaborative PD platform, where educators from across the country engaged in learning and skill-building with their peers and facilitators. We are so proud to witness educators continuously rise to the challenge of refining their skills and methods to meet the ever-changing needs of students. Hope to see everyone both online and in-person in a few weeks in at the Washington DC #StandardsInstitute.

At the end of their work week, the day after Halloween...we watched over 1,000 teachers login and churn through thousands of module pages of online coursework in one of our learning experience platforms supporting a large national professional development program for educators. While many look to Friday as a time to wind down the work week, these teachers took the time to "fire up" their skills. And our tracking data seems to visually reinforce that fact.

Please join us in welcoming our newest team member Annie Winton! We knew immediately she was a skilled and energetic addition. But in just a short amount of time we've learned she is also a kind and thoughtful and incredibly funny colleague as well. We are so happy to get to say the words "Welcome to the Team!" to this young professional.

One Learning Community celebrates CORE Learning's new Online Language & Literacy Academy (OL&LA) as they reach their 20,000 educator mark within months of initial launch. Having partnered to help with the design, development, and deployment of the innovative new CORE Academy platform to distribute this program nationally, we are happy to reference early data showing that the work of ensuring ALL students receive thoughtful, research-based reading instruction is a challenge being taken up by ALL educators PreK - 12, across all disciplines. It will take effective professional development, innovative technology, and more importantly the commitment of all educators to move the needle on literacy. Often, clients that have fully integrated our platform's tools and services into their day to day operations find themselves ready to assume full administration of the system. Typically we send an expert team member to the central offices of our client to lead their staff through a series of high-intensity training days. When we leave, our partners now have full capacity with the tools we've delivered and can scale internally as their projects expand and grow. But on a rare occasion, we get the pleasure to host personnel from a client team at our offices to work side by side with our team for a period of 2-4 days. Last month was one such occasion. UnboundEd sent Ms. Jenna Johnson to beautiful Bend Oregon to work with us for the better part of a week. Not only did we get to roll up our sleeves and dive into the details of all her new permissions and tools, but we also took advantage of doing dinners together, and getting some time away from the office to hike, explore, and get to know one another as colleagues. It was a genuine pleasure to spend time with Jenna both in and out of the office and get to know her incredible background as an educator, an instructional designer, and now as a bonafide systems administrator of UnboundEd's customized One Learning platform - the Digital Ecosystem. Having been established in 1647, Boston Public Schools is our country's longest established school district. Now operating with over 4,200 teachers, supporting over 45,000 students...getting targeted, flexible professional development to their staff is a bit different than it was prior to our country's founding. One Learning is excited to support 5 separate, large cohorts of educators from Boston Public Schools over the next few months in the Digital Ecosystem platform as they access innovative, digitally supported coursework and facilitated coaching from our partners at UnboundEd on new strategies to increase educational equity district-wide and foster more opportunities for all students to succeed. We are proud of the digital environment being provided to deliver such an incredible learning experience and look forward to providing the online support for all the esteemed educators serving the greater Boston community.

Well, we've sat quietly over here long enough. Time to do just a bit of "horn-tooting". Anyone and everyone in the Science of Reading professional development space across the nation has probably heard some reference to CORE's new and exciting online reading instruction program OL&LA. While we are always happy to keep our head down and "get the technical work done", we are definitely going to take a moment and point out the incredible push our team has made since just this last November, to build, test, deploy and now support this entire new platform that is running the entirety of this innovative, digital national product! (That is just 4 short months...and with a start date that was moved up by one full month due to popular demand requirements by districts we'd like to just say, "Phew...that was something!") Embedded with our national PD partners UnboundEd.org along with 500 educational leaders and guests from across the U.S. headed into day 2 of their Leadership Institute here in Anaheim CA! It is great to see first-hand, the use of new tools allowing facilitators and participants to directly pull up their school site and district achievement and demographic data as context to their PD activities and work. At One Learning we often say, "We learn best when we learn together." and we are definitely living that truth this week. Thank you educators for stepping bravely into an innovative new format for PD and tackling the big issues collectively!
