Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I want to share that I am planning to transition from my role as CEO at Operation Stand Down Tennessee. This will be the second time I have made a major career transition. My first was from the Air Force after completing twenty-nine years of service. This time, I leave an organization I love that is poised for its next great chapter.
This is a bittersweet decision that I communicated to the Board in 2023. It is bitter because I am so going to miss being a daily part of this great mission and a fantastic team. And it is sweet because I will now get to spend more time with my husband who has patiently waited for me to travel the world since his retirement from American Airlines in 2019.
During the seven years I have been with this organization, we have grown from a three-million-dollar budget to an eight-million-dollar budget. Our team has grown from thirty-five to seventy-two dedicated professionals supporting Veterans and their families from our three offices. Our area of support has grown to include twenty counties and spans all of Middle Tennessee. This incredible impact has been possible because of the investments by our donors and the VA, our Board’s leadership, our team’s expertise and enthusiasm, and because of the collaborative relationships we have built.
But there is more to do! We have a robust five-year strategic plan with ideas to increase our myriad lines of support and assist even more Veterans in Tennessee. Because of this, the timing is ideal for the organization to bring in new leadership. And it is the perfect time for my husband to start planning for the next adventure on the Murrie bucket list while I think about how I want to continue supporting our community in the years to come.
The board and I have a very deliberate plan for this succession, and we will take the coming months to ensure this transition goes smoothly. We will have a fabulous celebration in 2025 as I step into the next phase of my personal and professional life, and we introduce you to the next CEO. We are excited for what is to come and appreciate your steadfast support of Veterans and of Operation Stand Down Tennessee.
