  • Earlier this summer, we were humbled to be part of the first annual Stop Stigma Together (SST) summit to end the stigma against mental illness and substance use disorder. As part of our participation, we had the opportunity to share the findings from ‘The Projected Cost and Economic Impact of Mental Health Inequities in the United States report,’ authored by national expert Daniel Dawes, Dean of the Meharry School of Global Health with fellow attendees. Through our commitment to health for every mind, we will continue to emphasize that the mental health crisis in the United States should be treated as an emergency, encompassing a cross-sector approach. • This National Intern Day, we would like to thank all our InTOW interns for such a dynamic summer with us. Our 50+ interns continuously live by our purpose: defy limitation, so that others can too.   Their motivated work, innovative thinking, and resourceful creativity are unparalleled, as they demonstrate what it truly means to be an Otsuka-person.  As we come to the close of our program in the next couple of weeks, we wish all of them good luck on their journey ahead!   #NationalInternDay #DefyLimitation

  • Did you know that 43% of caregivers sacrifice their mental well-being due to their responsibilities as an Alzheimer’s disease or dementia family caregiver? At Otsuka, we’re working to lead an industry-wide shift in the ways caregivers are valued and supported. We are dedicated to caring for caregivers—standing with them, the way they stand with their loved ones—and offering the tools they need for the health of others and themselves. Our newly released fridge magnet provides caregivers with a moment to stop and process their feelings, and the many layers of emotions that come with providing this support for a loved one. If you're a family caregiver, how are you feeling today? For more information on our commitment to caregivers: https://lnkd.in/g4dtSda4

  • We are grateful to continue our work with Missy Franklin to raise awareness of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD), a rare genetic condition that causes cysts to form on the kidneys, eventually leading to a decline in kidney function and requiring a need for dialysis or a transplant.   For more than 20 years, Otsuka has brought new research and expertise to the #nephrology space. Our long-term perseverance has led to significant breakthroughs, giving patients renewed hope and clinicians more options.   Watch Missy speak of her family's journey with ADPKD on CBS Mornings. Missy Franklin is a paid collaborator of Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc.
