Thanks Abundium for generously inviting me to their annual CEO dinner in partnership with Antony Shaw at HSBC and Todd Sears at Out Leadership. Todd is passionate about broadening our definition of diversity beyond race and gender, specifically focusing on the LGBTQ+ community. Learnt loads from Todd’s inspiring story and the very insightful conversation round the table. Key takeaway for me is to leverage differences to drive business outcomes vs managing diversity alone. About last night…For the 3rd event of the 9th annual Out Leadership Australia Summit (check out the full line-up here: https://lnkd.in/g5tqUtcN), I had the great pleasure to co-host our Australia CEO Dinner with my Aussie brother Antony Shaw (CEO of HSBC Australia) and my friend, the inspirational Rich Hirst (CEO of Abundium). We gathered 22 CEOs from across the Australian business community for an amazing night of open conversation and learning where I got to share so much of OL’s work, data, best practices from around the world. That led to a number of strategic conversations about what each of them could do with their platforms, and ended with a commitment to continuing to drive #LGBTQ inclusion—and I emphasize continuing, because Aussie companies are not moving away from inclusion, it’s in their DNA. To top it off, we all got to have my favorite oysters in the world (Sydney Rock) on HSBC’s porch overlooking the Sydney harbor at sunset. I call it a porch because Tony Cripps was the person who had it added to the plans for the development of the HSBC building in Oz when he was CEO—he hosted my first Australia Summit 9 years ago. For a look into the night, check out the video I took with Tony and the phenomenal April Palmerlee 🇺🇸🇦🇺 (she’s CEO of AmCham Australia, and a total rockstar). I’m so grateful all the leaders I get to work with around the world, for supporting my work, and for using their economic power to drive #LGBTQ equality. #returnonequality #luckyguy Darren Umbers Felipe Toledo Philip Goldie Ben McCauley Nick Hughes Amber Matthews Jason Collins Blair Wark Lisa Harvey-Smith Nupur Bhushan Oscar Mora Wayne Robert Porritt Mark Woodruff Linda Brown Andrew Penfold AM Allison Rossiter GAICD Adam Lai

In beautiful Sydney today for the Out Leadership Australian Summit. This morning we had a fascinating discussion with the OutWomen+ group about intersectional advocacy, collaboration and showing up for our most frequently attacked community groups. It was great to meet a lot of colleagues from the NFP sector as well as the corporate community, and share what we do at Out For Australia in offering Australia’s largest LGBTQIA+ mentoring program. It was also fun to see the inside of Sydney Swans HQ!

We are thrilled to introduce the first part of the 2024 Out Leadership Global Impact Report, a comprehensive resource that highlights the critical work being done to advance LGBTQ+ equality through the power of business. At a time when diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts face increasing scrutiny and rollback, this report reaffirms why our collective efforts are more essential than ever—not only for the LGBTQ+ community but for the broader global business landscape. In the first half of 2024, Out Leadership convened over 1,500 leaders from more than 165 organizations across five continents, hosting global summits in New York, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. These summits were not just forums for discussion; they were incubators for action, empowering leaders to make a lasting impact on their organizations, colleagues, and communities. The Global Impact Report details key initiatives, including our Board Diversity and Self-ID programs, which are instrumental in advancing inclusion and ensuring that organizations remain competitive in today’s rapidly changing business environment. These initiatives are driving measurable change, enhancing employee engagement, fostering talent development, and refining global business practices. As you explore the report, you'll see how Out Leadership is making a difference worldwide and how your organization can sustain and build upon this momentum. The report offers practical strategies and insights that align with the current climate, ensuring that your inclusion efforts are both impactful and enduring. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to driving LGBTQ+ inclusion in the business world. Together, we are creating a more equitable and inclusive future. Explore the 2024 Out Leadership Global Impact Report and be a part of this critical journey. Learn more: https://loom.ly/zAbSTXI #ReturnOnEquality
