Owing to the huge sums involved and the unorthodox ways they give, MacKenzie Scott and Melinda French Gates are center stage in philanthropy today. Both embrace trust-based philanthropy, but they take different approaches to transparency. Panorama has researched and analyzed Scott’s giving through the Collaborative Learning for Impact Philanthropy initiative and published our learnings in hopes that her generosity and bold giving would encourage other donors to make large unrestricted grants without a large team or bureaucratic process. Our Founder and CEO Gabrielle Fitzgerald notes that “we assumed we would be tracking the impact on both the nonprofit sector and the philanthropic sector.
