We’re proud to announce we've officially joined StopNCII.org, SWGfL's global initiative dedicated to preventing the spread of non-consensual intimate images (NCII) online. Our VP of Trust and Safety, Eric H. said it best: “At Patreon, we are committed to fostering a safer digital space where creators and their communities can thrive. Building on our zero tolerance policy for non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII) on our platform, partnering with StopNCII.org reinforces our dedication to protecting individuals from the harms of NCII and ensuring creators can share their work securely.”

We live in a world of more - more media, more platforms, more noise. But when does more become too much? 🤔 Somewhere along the way, the endless push for “more” pulled us away from what made creating so enjoyable in the first place. Our COO Paige Fitzgerald, sat down with Joshua Fields Millburn, co-founder of The Minimalists, at SXSW to unpack the state of the creator economy - and why it’s time for a reset. 🔗 Check it out: https://lnkd.in/ev7kWViB

It's striking to see how our 🧠 #StateOfCreate report is resonating with so many aspects of the creator experience, especially the challenges of connecting directly with audiences in today’s social landscape. It’s tough when it feels like follower counts don’t tell the full story - anyone else facing similar struggles?
What do you do, when you can no longer reach your own followers? And how do you explain to leadership, or stakeholders, that follower count might not even matter when complex algorithms act as gatekeepers between audiences and great content? It’s an omnipresent stress that any social media manager can relate to, because somewhere along the way, the scope of social expanded from “strategizing engaging content that drives brand awareness” to “mastering the subconscious mind while hacking atrophied attention spans”. 🙃 If any of this resonates with you, I’m going to wager a guess that you will also love Patreon’s newest report about the grim social platform politics, aptly entitled “State of Create”. I, for one, was nodding like a bobble-head all throughout, furiously sending screen caps to my social media friends. So I felt compelled to sit down and record my thoughts about how closely the creators’ struggle, matches that of the Social Media Manager. And for the record, this post and video aren’t sponsored, I just felt *sOmE tYpE oF wAy* and wanted to see if you did too. Watch 👇, vent, tell me what you think. (PS - If only Patreon could measure all the dark social shares they got from me last month 😅).

TikTok, Instagram, and the rest of the 'For You' 🫵 internet has fallen into a growth trap. 👀 They're offering creators lots of discovery of potential new fans... but it comes at the expense of building stronger relationships with the fans they already have. And it's those strong relationships that will ultimately lead to more income.💰 Here's how we're building discovery on Patreon to avoid the trap, and give creators ✨ growth without compromise ✨ https://lnkd.in/gAWqyuYa
