At Pemberton we engage every new cohort of professionals in an agency, by having them complete an exercise called a Proactiveness Appraisal. This self-scoring survey in the form of a #LikertScale consists of 30-plus items that all account guidance professionals should be doing, and/or characteristics they should possess. The scale goes from "Lagging to Leading." Inevitably, a very high percentage of participants either grade themselves as "lagging" when it comes to financial-related questions, or simply write "N/A." If your people have no "Operational Awareness," they will never have "Observational Effectiveness." What do we mean by this? If your account people have no idea how the agency makes money, how do you then expect them to help the #agency make more money? #Businessacumen is poorly lacking in the #pragency, #advertisingagency, #digitalagency and #marketingagency business not only stifling organic account growth, but the ability to defend the true business value they provide to clients. If you can't retain #clients, you can't grow clients.
