Celebrating World Friendship Day with Lyndon and Michelle: 'The Power of Support and Connection'. 😁 This week Perthyn had the pleasure of sitting down with Lyndon and his fiancée Michelle to chat about the theme of friendship and ways to build connections in the local community. Lyndon shares how Perthyn have supported him to find his footing in Retford and reflects on his experiences of building friendships. “There they’re for you no matter what – you have so much fun with your friends!” World Friendship Day takes place on the 30th of July and PERTHYN encourage our connections to share the joy and celebrate the wonderful friends in our lives. We were inspired by Michelle’s suggestion of expressing appreciation through friendship cards and coffee gatherings. How do you plan to celebrate your friends? Stress is a natural emotion to feel while under pressure, but what can we do when stress manifests in an intrusive way? Take stock of your current wellbeing: #Workload – Does your workload match your abilities and experience? Are deadlines reasonable and mutually agreed? Having #Autonomy in planning and your involvement is important to a safe and structured working environment. #Clarity, do you have clarity on your role and the roles of others? Would you know who to contact if you needed support? #Physical work environment – is your work space suitable? Consider the noise levels, lighting, space and temperature. It’s important to move and not be stationary all day. Many offices include standing desks to help break up the routine of a desk role. If you’re finding that work or personal issues are causing unexpected stress it’s important to share these with friends, or a trusted colleague. If your organisation doesn’t have a Mental Health First Aider, consider reaching out to Mind or Samaritans for free resources and a confidential listening service. You are not alone! 👫 💪 💙 #mentalhealthatwork #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #workplacewellbeing #stressmanagement #workplacewellness #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthfirstaid #mentalwellbeing #wellness #wellbeing #mentalhealthadvice #mindfulness #wellbeingatwork #selfcare #mentalhealthcounselor #mentalhealthcommunity #stressmanagementcoaching #workplacehealth #mentalhealthquotes #employeewellbeing #mentalhealththerapist #mentalhealthmonday #workplaceculture #mentalhealthhelp #employeewellness #psychology #corporatewellness #mentalhealthweek

June is here - and so is Men's Mental Health Week! Men's mental health is a critical issue in 2024, while awareness increases there are still persistent challenges. Breaking the silence and stigma that surrounds mental ill-health is a crucial step towards a safe and healthy environment for our loved ones. The theme for 2024 is ‘Taking stock of your overall health’, especially as the world steps away from the restrictions put in place during the Covid-19 pandemic. Social stigma and traditional gender norms often prevent men from seeking help, perpetuating a silent crisis. Despite progress, many men still equate vulnerability with weakness, leading to underreporting of mental health issues. Vulnerability is not a weakness, and seeking help is a brave and important first step. The NHS have developed the ‘DIY Man MOT’ in conjunction with the Men's Health Forum. This helpful checklist can support people of all genders to take stock of their health and how to seek support when needed. https://lnkd.in/eHJBuPpc Recent data shows that men are less likely to access mental health services, despite experiencing significant stress, anxiety, and depression. Work-related pressures, societal expectations, and the reluctance to express emotions compound these problems. The rise of digital platforms has provided new avenues for support, such as digital therapy and mental health apps, making it easier for men to seek help discreetly Mind and Samaritans can offer confidential listening services and signpost for further support. Workplace initiatives promoting mental well-being, along with public campaigns challenging stereotypes, are crucial steps forward. Encouraging open conversations about mental health and normalising the act of seeking help are essential for changing attitudes. Men’s mental health in 2024 requires a multifaceted approach that includes education, accessible resources, and a cultural shift towards acceptance and support. By addressing these issues collectively, society can help men lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Perthyn are a committed partner with Mind to help deliver an inclusive and respectful working environment, where all employees feel safe to address their health in a confidential and non-judgementalenvironment. #mensmentalhealthweek #mentalhealth #mentalhealthtoolkit #support #mind #covid19 #mentalhealthweek2024 #youarenotalone #depression #anxiety
