Meet Jessica, a manager in Volunteer Services at PIH Health Whittier Hospital. Beginning her career as a volunteer, Jessica has dedicated 11 years of service to PIH Health Whittier Hospital. Jessica was confident that she wanted to work in the healthcare industry because it would always be a place that cares for others. “Every day is a unique experience because I am able to meet new people, learn about their story and gifts, and find department assignments where they can offer their support,” shares Jessica. Working in Volunteer Services, Jessica supports the vision of #PatientsFirst through training and preparing volunteers to offer high-quality care. She feels there is a strong sense of community at PIH Health that ensures all members of the community feel important. “I am regularly reminded how good-hearted people are through our volunteer’s willingness to offer their energy and time for the good of serving others,” says Jessica. Volunteer services is committed to supporting the caring atmosphere at PIH Health. If a department, patient, or visitor needs non-clinical assistance they can reach out to Volunteer Services. In her spare time Jessica likes to read and attend church at Whitter Area Community Church. Jessica mentioned how her most precious days of the week are Wednesdays because they are designated for family dinners. PIH Health thanks Jessica for her years of service and for continuing to put #PatientsFirst!

Nurse Residency was created to provide ongoing clinical and personal support to first-year nurses in practice. The program gives new graduates a forum to share thoughts, feelings, concerns and clinical experiences. Through the process of sharing, new graduates are empowered with the understanding that the challenges experienced during transition from school to practice are “normal.”  Come join the PIH Health Team!

We're excited to share a highlight from our recent Circle of Excellence event at PIH Health Downey Hospital! On July 31, we unveiled our newly renovated chapel with a heartfelt dedication ceremony. This beautiful transformation was made possible through the generous support of The Atwood Family, Sam and Beverly Mathis, PDL Enterprises, Inc., and PIH Health employee donors. Fr. Kenneth Chukwu, System Senior Director for Chaplaincy, led the chapel's blessing and dedication, marking the official opening of the renovated chapel, a space now enriched to offer comfort and reflection to patients, families, and staff.
