🌍 Health and Sustainability in Cambodia: A Transformative Shift 🌍 In rural Cambodia, families are adopting cleaner cooking methods that are improving health outcomes and protecting the environment. By switching from wood fires to electric and gas stoves, people are reducing exposure to harmful indoor air pollution—a major cause of preventable deaths. "I've been cooking with wood since I was young, and I never realized it could be harming my health. The health education sessions have opened my eyes to the risks," says Lem Som, a participant in the program. This life-changing transformation is thanks to the collaboration between the Cambodian government, CHAI, SNV, and community health workers, with funding from The Rockefeller Foundation. These efforts have reduced the health impacts of cooking fires, saved time, and lessened deforestation. ✨Celebrating Five Years of Global Collaboration to Address AIDS-Related Mortality✨ In 2023, over 630,000 people tragically lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses. This serves as a stark reminder of the work still needed to meet global health targets and save lives. Since its inception in 2019, the Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) Alliance – born from Unitaid’s AHD projects with CHAI – has been at the forefront of tackling ongoing challenges in this field. Over the past five years, the AHD Alliance has grown into a powerful network of over 70 members across 29 organizations, extending its reach from Africa to Latin America and Southeast Asia. Together, these partners are coordinating and driving momentum toward the ambitious 2030 goal of ending AIDS. In December, CHAI had the privilege of speaking with AHD Alliance co-chairs Dr. Tom Chiller (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and Dr. Nathan Ford (World Health Organization) to reflect on the AHD Alliance’s growth, the advances made, and the power of global collaboration in shaping the future of AHD care. 🔗 Read the full Q&A here: https://lnkd.in/dvtJyVTn #HIV #AIDS #GlobalHealth #EndAIDS2030

📢 We appreciate your interest in CHAI and would like to offer you the opportunity to attend a live webinar wherein you will hear from members of our HR and leadership teams. We will host a 30-minute presentation with 30 minutes for live Q&A. ❓ What? CHAI Live Info Session. 📅 When? Wednesday, Feb 5, 2025, from 1-2 pm UTC (8-9 am EST/2-3 pm WAT/8-9 pm ICT) 🧐 Who? Frederic Seghers, Senior Director, Assistive Technologies, and Sydney Leroy from CHAI’s Global Talent Acquisition team 🙋♂️Join via this link: https://ow.ly/uvlr50UMpBL 🦽⎚-⎚🦿Assistive technology (AT) is an umbrella term covering the systems and services related to the delivery of assistive products and services. Specific examples include eyeglasses, hearing aids, wheelchairs, and prostheses, and the service delivery systems that supply these products. The 2022 Global Report on AT reveals that more than 2.5 billion people need one or more assistive products. Yet, nearly one billion of them are denied access, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where access can be as low as 3% of the need for these life-changing products. The AT sector faces multiple barriers both in supply of appropriate, affordable, and quality products and in demand for these products by users, service providers, and national health systems. 🌍❤️CHAI is working with governments and partners to set up and strengthen systems that integrate the provision of AT in the public sector and create sustainable demand and supply for appropriate and quality assistive products. CHAI supports the development of data systems, leadership and coordination structures, national policies and strategies, procurement guidelines, product specifications and provision standards, as well as government programs and market-oriented interventions aimed at improving accessibility and affordability of AT. This involves work in a growing number of countries around the world. 🔗Please join us to learn more about CHAI and our work in assistive technologies! Frederic Seghers, Senior Director, Assistive Technologies: Frederic Seghers has been with CHAI since 2014. He currently leads CHAI's Assistive Technologies team where he is focused on expanding access to life-changing assistive products, including eyeglasses, hearing aids and wheelchairs, across more than 15 countries. Prior to joining CHAI, Frederic worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company and spent four years with Procter & Gamble, managing commercial innovations across different product categories for the BeNeLux and Nordic countries. He holds a Masters in Biomedical Engineering from Ghent University. #CHAIRecruiting

📢"The dual test kit has given us an opportunity now to be able to use one single drop of blood to be able to test and get the results for both HIV and syphilis." ~ Dr Ijaodola Olugbenga, National PMTCT Lead, NASCP #Syphilis can be cured with a single dose of an affordable and available antibiotic. However, testing rates for the disease lag behind those for #HIV, meaning many pregnant women are at higher risk of contracting the disease, endangering the lives of their unborn children. 📌CHAI and MedAccess are helping countries to test more women for both diseases using the HIV and syphilis dual test. This is made possible through a volume guarantee by MedAccess and a reduced price of the dual test kit. Learn more about this game-changing initiative👉: https://lnkd.in/df4hHwey
