About us
Pine-Richland School District is a public school district that is located in the most northern portion of Allegheny County, PA, which serves more than 4,600 students K-12. The district has seen its population double since the early nineties. As a result PRSD is noted for having first-rate facilities amid a strong academic reputation. The district covers 21 square miles. This region of Allegheny County is characterized by suburban/semi-rural development, both residential and some commercial. The district is framed by Route 8, a north south road running through the eastern part of the district and Route 79, which lies just west of the district boundaries. These roads create great access to this part of Allegheny County and are a major factor in the growth of the district. The growth of the district parallels the growth of our reputation for quality educational programs. As we grow, PR maintains a warm and caring environment with an excellent academic reputation. The district provides a future-focused approach to planning and operations, thanks to strong leadership by the board, administrative team, teachers and non-teaching staff coupled with strong participation from teachers, students and community members. The district is comprised of six school buildings.

Last Sunday, Pine-Richland High School Custodian Joe Strobel became a hero. Mr. Strobel was watching the Steelers game at the Scoreboard Restaurant and Lounge when he saw that a man nearby was choking. Having taken Pine-Richland's classes in first aid and the Heimlich maneuver, Mr. Strobel sprang into action and successfully performed the Heimlich on the man. Read more about Mr. Strobel's experience in the Butler Eagle at https://lnkd.in/ekqw5niu. Thank you, Mr. Strobel, for your quick action!

Residents of a village in Ghana recently took to YouTube to thank Pine-Richland High School students and the Rich-Mar Rotary Club for their fundraising efforts. Back in May, members of the Key Club, under the direction of teacher and sponsor Dawn Herbst, helped raise $3,500 through their Walk for Water, an event in which students carried gallon jugs of water for one mile around the Pine-Richland Stadium track. Money raised is being put toward the drilling of a potable water well in Wugladza this month.
