  • It’s almost time for the Big Game! On Sunday, February 9, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesar’s Superdome, home of the NFL’s New Orleans Saints.   New Orleans has hosted the NFL’s Championship Game 11 times. Eight of them have been in the Superdome. No other stadium or arena has hosted more championship games than the Superdome. Notably, the last time there was a bit of a snafu—the lights went out on the 49ers and Ravens early in the second half. The game was delayed for more than 30 minutes.    Officials say security will be a focus for this year’s game. We’re on board with that. We’re all about security. So, if you’re going to this “Big Game” (or any game for that matter), one of the things we can help you with is your Pinkerton Crime Index risk score at the neighborhood level (below). If you know your risk score, you can make informed decisions, like where to stay and how to get to the stadium for the festivities.   While the other info on the images below won’t help you stay safe, we thought we’d put it out there. Know your risk. Be safe. Go team.   #Superdome #NewOrleans #PCI #Crime *Pinkerton is not an official sponsor of the NFL.

  • Pinkerton’s National Detective Agency badges not only served as a mark of distinction but also as a symbol of discipline, dedication, and authority. These emblems were meticulously crafted to denote rank and function within the Agency, with each position adorned by a uniquely plated badge. Worn proudly on the left breast—and only while on duty—these badges were instantly recognizable, reflecting the prestige and reputation of the Pinkerton name. Agency badges, especially those issued to operatives on protection details, were designed to be quickly displayed during emergencies, ensuring Pinkerton agents were not mistaken for the very threats they were pursuing. The iconic gold-plated detective shield, designed after Allan Pinkerton's shield, was reserved for those engaged in detective and undercover work. The uniformed Pinkerton Protective Patrol badges were unique in both appearance and significance—gold for the inspector, captain, and lieutenants, silver for sergeants, and nickel for patrolmen. During World War II, Pinkerton badges were acknowledged by the War Department as official identification, entrusting Pinkertons to protect factories and ports in their homeland security efforts. Attention to detail was paramount—agents and operatives were expected to keep their badges polished, free from tarnish, embodying the professionalism that Allan Pinkerton demanded from the foundation of the Agency. #175

  • As part of Black History Month honoring the central role of African Americans in U.S. history, we want to honor the legacy of some notable Pinkertons. This month would not be complete without honoring John Scobell. While serving as the head of the Union Intelligence Service in the Civil War, Allan Pinkerton diligently debriefed runaway and freed slaves, some of whom he personally recruited to go back into the South as secret service agents. One such agent was John Scobell of Mississippi, who had been educated and freed by his owner. Pinkerton said that Scobell was remarkably gifted and favorably impressed him. In 1861, after several short-term assignments, Scobell was sent on a long-term assignment behind enemy lines with two other Pinkerton agents, Timothy Webster and Carrie Lawton in Richmond, Virginia, where he assumed the cover of an illiterate butler. Ever cool-headed and vigilant, Scobell acted ignorant to the Civil War. Confederate officers dismissed him, often leaving important documents in view and freely discussing war strategy in front of him. The trio’s assignment was cut short in 1862 when Webster and Lawton were betrayed, arrested, and tried as spies. Webster was sentenced to death. Lawton was sentenced to one year in prison. Scobell was released because the Confederates could not believe a butler could be a spy for the North. Later in the war, Scobell often traveled deep into the South where he recruited black couriers from an underground organization known as the Legal League or the Loyal League. Scobell ran a sort of sub-secret service agency to dispatch intelligence to Pinkerton and the Union, and it was through Scobell and his operatives that the Union obtained the most prolific intelligence throughout the Civil War. • Looking for a tailored security solution that aligns with your company's goals? When the new leadership of a large international corporation identified significant inefficiencies in their security program, they sought third-party solutions on a global scale that would match their objectives and corporate culture, a critical move for a company with over 500 facilities across more than 180 countries. They called Pinkerton. Pinkerton proposed embedding a team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), also known as Pinkerton Dedicated Professionals (PDPs)—security professionals hired and trained by Pinkerton who work exclusively for one of our client organizations in tactical, strategic, or technical roles. Choosing embedded SMEs vs. sourcing direct hires was an easy decision to make: lower cost of talent acquisition and access to Pinkerton’s institutional knowledge of risk management best practices. Swipe through the graphics below to see how your organization can benefit from a PDP and the Pinkerton network. #PDP #RiskManagement #Security #Protection
