At Plan North Engineers, we’re continually working to enhance collaboration. Our founder, David Fulton, PE, MBA, shared his insights yesterday during an AIA panel discussion on fostering stronger partnerships between architects and consultants. David highlighted the importance of early collaboration, noting, “When structural engineers come in early, it’s a fantastic opportunity to align on expectations. However, it’s crucial that we have a clear understanding of deliverables from the start to avoid potential delays.” He also emphasized the need for alignment on design intent: “Understanding the architect’s vision is key. If we know what the goal is—whether it’s creating open spaces or integrating specific design elements—we can better support and enhance that vision, rather than just meeting the minimum requirements.” David added, “Having a clear reason behind design choices and sharing that vision with the team can help us all work together more effectively. It’s not just about being a participant; it’s about being a true partner in the design process.” This discussion reaffirms our commitment at Plan North to fostering strong, communicative relationships with our partners, ensuring that every project is a collaborative success! A special thank you to AIA Central Idaho for including us in this important discussion, and to Ian Hoffman from GHm Architects for moderating. It was a pleasure to share the stage with Cory Schrack (Civil) from Nasland Engineering, Emily Voges (Landscape Architect) from Stack Rock Group, Amy Dockter (Electrical) from CSHQA, and Laura Rankin (Mechanical) from Cushing Terrell. #PlanNorthEngineers #InterdisciplinaryCollaboration #StructuralEngineering #Architecture #Design #Teamwork

What better way to admire the view than having a personal fire tower on your property? Love how this one turned out! The rusted/recycled steel adds a lot to the look. #PlanNorth #StructuralEngineering #FireTower
