Don't worry grocery industry, I just asked all of the biggest, most important questions for you in a Pollfish survey to 1,000 grocery shoppers: 🥑 13% have squished an avocado too much and still put it back. 😲 🛒 19% secretly judge shoppers based on the contents of their carts. ⚡ 42% may use the express lane, knowing they're over the item limit! 🚗 25% circle the parking lot to find the “perfect” parking spot. ⏳ 29% will just linger close by if someone is blocking their item. 🛞 73% will switch shopping carts if they have a problematic wheel. 🛍️ Just 7% say they are definitely influenced by items near checkout. 🍬 Only 1% always buy a point of purchase checkout product. 🍪 19% of shoppers will never buy Girl Scout cookies outside. 🎨 40% claim they are not influenced by brand packaging. 🏆 Respondents ranked brand quality above price. 🙅♂️ 42% won’t ask a rep for help when unable to find an item. 🍊 30% sniff the produce to check its freshness. 🏃♂️ 68% say they are average speed shoppers, 24% say faster. 🧊 58% arrange all of the cold stuff together in their cart. 🥦 A whopping 62% start in produce, followed by bakery at 7%. ❄️ 42% end with frozen foods, fearing the melting of items. 📉 92% feel shrinkflation is out of hand at the grocery store. 😈 40% admit to sneakily abandoning unwanted items near checkout. 🚶♀️ 40% may avoid going down an aisle to avoid people they know. 🛍️ 23% refuse to use the smaller shopping cart, even for few items. ⚡ 83% use self-checkout for speed, 17% to avoid human interaction. 🍃 Only 27% say organic is not important to them at all. 🧪 Big scientific ingredient lists discourage 44% of shoppers. 🔙 76% grab the back items to get the fresher, longer-lasting items. 🛢️ 54% don’t believe dents affect the contents of a canned product. 🤷 14% will just throw items in the cart rather than compare. 🎵 36% don’t like the music in grocery stores. 📝 50% still shop with a paper list, 39% by phone, 21% by memory. 💬 61% enjoy small talk with cashiers. 🚗 69% of shoppers don’t recall ever crashing carts. 🍽️ 91% of shoppers would rather shop full vs. hungry. 🛒 95% of shoppers say they put their cart back.
