As we celebrate the start of #CommunityPlanningMonth, we're reminded that the most powerful visions come from those who live, work, and play in the communities we serve. How do you see your community growing and evolving? What legacy do you hope to inspire? At Pond, our approach to placemaking centers around these important questions. In an evolving world where cities face new challenges and look to reimagine the use of public spaces, it's crucial to design spaces that reflect the needs, desires, and values of the people who use them. One example is our current collaboration with the Cumberland Community Improvement District in Atlanta to develop a placemaking strategy. Together, we’re reimagining public spaces to enhance connectivity, accessibility, and the overall experience for everyone. This project is a true community-driven co-design effort, incorporating input through surveys, online engagement, and multiple pop-up events and open houses. We're also planning a creative placemaking event that will empower the community to collaboratively design and implement their first placemaking project. Pond had a fantastic time participating in the 5th Annual VyStar Emerald Trail 5K/10K in Jacksonville, Florida this past Saturday! It was an honor to run alongside the Jacksonville community on the beautiful LaVilla Link, a part of the Emerald Trail that Pond had the privilege to help design. The Emerald Trail is a planned 34-mile urban trail and linear park system that will connect 14 historic neighborhoods to downtown Jacksonville, fostering community and revitalization. Pond designed the first mile of this network, which includes trail paths, linear parks, plazas, pocket parks, and gateways into distinct neighborhoods. We worked closely with the City of Jacksonville, Groundwork Jacksonville, and local business owners to develop a design that reflects the rich cultural history of the area. A big shoutout to Christian Morales, Tais Pessatti, Kate Jaurigue, and Megan Elliott— Pond's Jacksonville team members who contributed to the project and proudly represented us at the race. #PowerofPond #EmeraldTrail #DesignInAction

Last week, Pond and our dear clients celebrated the grand opening of Pond’s second Honolulu office in a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony. It was an honor to have Kahu Kordell Kekoa perform the blessing, emphasizing generational importance, new beginnings, and working with others. Pond’s first office in Honolulu opened in March 2018. The second location brings Pond’s total staff on the island to 20, reinforcing our commitment to this region. The newest location serves as Pond’s regional engineering production hub for Department of Defense facilities throughout the Pacific. Pond’s experience in the Pacific region reaches as far as Japan and Korea, remote areas including Shemya Island in the Aleutians, Wake Island, and the Kwajalein Atoll.     #PowerofPond #NewOffice #Honolulu
