Today is the day to join PAI at the 2024 Sexual Violence Research Initiative Forum. This year's forum will bring together partners and fellow advocates to connect and learn about the importance of preventing violence against women, children and other gender-based violence.
Join PAI and connect with our President & CEO Nabeeha Kazi Hutchins at the SVRI Forum on October 21-25! Ending violence against women and girls is a central component of achieving our urgent mandate for sexual and reproductive health and rights. We are proud to speak up and join partners, researchers and fellow civil society advocates who also recognize that the full potential of communities can only be realized when we put an end to the harmful practices, violence, intimidation and injustices that affect women and girls.

We love connecting with SRHR Champion Sesilia Shirima, Young and Alive Initiative's CEO, about recognizing and respecting the wants and needs of girls in our communities and providing them with the support they need to build and craft the future they envision for themselves. #InternationalDayoftheGirl
Here's to the GIRLS and all who support, champion, celebrate and protect the rights, dreams and achievements of girls in their communities and around the world. It was a gift today to catch up with Sesilia Shirima my friend and sister and CEO of Young and Alive Initiative - an incredible youth-led and youth-focused community-based organization based out of Tanzania and inspiring partner of PAI. We decided to have an impromptu chat (sorry to our communications teams, yes, we went rogue) about today being International Day of the Girl, the challenges and opportunities we see affecting girls and what we all need to do better. Enjoy this short chat, keep fighting for rights, equality and justice, and THANK YOU to all who make our collective work possible! #internationaldayofthegirl Innocent Grant The Global Financing Facility (GFF) Linda Weisert Nandita Thatte, DrPH, Anita Zaidi Sanjana Bhardwaj Alaa Murabit Lana Dakan Mallika Dutt Sania Nishtar Radia Bakkouch Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage Girl Up, United Nations Foundation Nala Feminist Collective FP2030 International Conference on Family Planning PMNCH Catherine (Katie) Unthank Spotlight Initiative Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI)

Programs Management | Policy and Advocacy | SRHR | RH/MCH | Population Health Environment and Development (PHED) | Community Engagement | Social Accountability | Youth and Women Empowerment | County Budget Analysis
Recently I was part of the team at Pathways Policy Institute (PPI) that conducted a budget analysis of Narok County’s Integrated Development Plan (CIDP), Annual Development Plan (ADP), and Annual County budgets. Through this analysis, we focused on investments for Narok’s health matters, particularly in the areas of Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), addressing Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), eliminating Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and improving maternal and child health (MCH). This report serves as a baseline for stronger advocacy to improve healthcare access, especially in rural areas, and to advocate for the necessary financial investments to promote and advance the health and rights of women, girls, and youth. This report highlights and emphasizes the importance of promoting modern contraceptive use, strengthening healthcare systems, and enhancing budget transparency. Evidence-based advocacy is key to aligning development plans with the needs of the community, and I am proud to have contributed to this effort as part of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Kenya’s 10th Country Programme. #SRHR #EndFGM #BudgetAdvocacy I am grateful to have worked on this with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) ensuring that Narok is on the path to achieving sustainable Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) outcomes. Together, we can ensure that every woman and girl lives free from FGM and has access to quality reproductive health services. #CommunityHealth #MaternalHealth #GenderEquality Peter NgureNjeri Sherry MuthauraFaith Lynkoi Solomon Kibue NAYA Kenya Susan Sindani (M.A Gender 'n Development) Leshan Kereto, HSC Wagutu Stephen Muasya Epiphany Muriuki Peninah Nairesiae Kenki Njenga Laureen Maina Tareto Africa The Maa Trust Dr. Violet Mbiti Sono Aibe 相部園 PAI Health NGOs Network - HENNET KENYA Bajeti Hub Centre for Enhancing Democracy and Good Governance Grace Wanene Drawing Dreams Initiative Click to read more: Advancing SRHR In Narok: Policy Review on SRHR in Narok County-

"In my read of history, anytime time anything important has actually gotten done, it's been because young people have gotten involved. Civil rights, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental action. We are able to get things done when young people get involved and get engaged, and we are seeing that right now. We're not only seeing that in this country, let's be clear. We're seeing it in countries around the world.” - U.S. Representative Sarah Jacobs (D-CA) We were honored to have Rep. Jacobs join Nabeeha Kazi Hutchins for a conversation during our annual event, Courageous Conversations: Advocates Advancing Reproductive Rights. Thank you to the many allies and advocates who attended this powerful discussion on the future of the SRHR movement.

“Project 2025's proposals are draconian and, despite their claims of promoting healthy families, would endanger the lives of millions. Imposing U.S. restrictions on foreign aid that do not align with local laws or customs will leave communities around the world without access to healthcare, including maternal and infant care. The decision if, when and how to have children should not be between the U.S. government and individuals in other countries, but between individuals and their trusted healthcare providers. PAI will continue to advocate for human rights, including the choice to determine our future.” - Nabeeha Kazi Hutchins U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (NY-06), Chair of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus International Women’s Rights Taskforce and a member of the Stop Project 2025 Taskforce, has released a fact sheet detailing the harmful impacts Project 2025 would create around the world. PAI is deeply concerned about the proposals outlined in this brief. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3Y8s5ts

"There is a saying in global health: 'No product. No program' I always like to add this to it – 'No people. No impact.' You see we can have the best innovations and a diverse range of modern contraceptives to meet preferences, but if people don’t know services and support are available to them then we have great investment, knowledge and innovation that just sits on the shelves not changing the lives of anyone. That for all of us should be a great tragedy."
