Thank you to Chris Elias for these reflections on how locally led solutions are driving real impact in #Ethiopia. There’s power in community-driven primary health care, where government, health workers, and partners like AMREF, JSI, and Gates Foundation work together to expand access. From #immunization efforts to innovative approaches that reach conflict-affected and remote communities, our work is ensuring that health care reaches everyone, everywhere.
What does it take to ensure health for everyone, everywhere? On my trip to Ethiopia, I saw the power of locally led solutions in action. At community health posts, I witnessed the incredible work of health workers, the government, and partners who are expanding access to primary healthcare through the Health Extension Program. This initiative is bringing essential health services, including immunization, to families across the country, ensuring care reaches those who need it most. I also had the opportunity to learn from the AMREF and JSI teams about innovative approaches to reaching communities affected by conflict and geographic barriers—people who face some of the greatest challenges in accessing care. This is how we scale healthcare: by adapting to the needs of every community and ensuring no one is left behind. The progress is inspiring, and it reaffirms that investing in health isn’t just about saving lives—it’s about building a healthier, more equitable future for all.

JSI’s Ethiopia Data Use Partnership (DUP) through Gates Foundation support, is transforming health data reporting using a cost-efficient and scalable model for resource-limited settings. By upgrading outdated computer hardware capacity in health facilities across the Somali region, the initiative boosted data reporting rates from 16% to 70% in just its first day of use. Higher reporting rates enhance data accuracy, strengthen decision-making, and support better health outcomes. As #CervicalCancerAwarenessMonth wraps up, we're reaffirming our commitment to ending this preventable disease. Each year, over 350,000 women lose their lives to cervical cancer, 90% of them in low- and middle-income countries. The #HPVvaccine is the most effective way to protect girls and adolescents, and at JSI, we’re partnering with countries to expand vaccine access and strengthen immunization systems. Check out our most recent stories from Nigeria and Ethiopia: ◾ How Nigeria’s Ministry of Education Is Driving Sustainable HPV Vaccination: https://lnkd.in/ete_h-2i ◾ Boosting Cervical Cancer Prevention by Optimizing HPV Vaccination Demand in Ethiopia: https://lnkd.in/gDgZ374C Together, we can save lives and protect future generations. #CervicalCancerAwareness #HPV #HealthForAll #VaccineWorks
