Last month I had the pleasure to talk at Web Summit Rio about what we’ve been doing at PORTO ROCHA from the digital side. Something that always intrigues me is why, inside companies & agencies, digital is kind of distant from the overarching brand discussion. Although a lot of tools, services, and platforms are born as digital natives. If we look from this POV, why is the digital expression of a brand not considered as much as it could be in the concept brand stages? Why not explore how a button, a card, a module, or even an interaction would look like or feel as any other brand visual manifestation? What if we look at interactive design as it is? R: Branding.

For the identity for performing arts centre PAC NYC, PORTO ROCHA looked to the building's cuboidal architecture. A square now sits at the heart of the identity, bookended by the words 'PAC' and 'NYC.' Imbued with a cinematic energy, the brand sets the stage for the institution.

Introducing, PAC NYC. Our identity establishes PAC NYC as a new beacon of culture — of New York and for the world.
