"Can there be good corruption?" That was one of the questions to me from a group of 20 judges from 13 countries last week at an event of the Judicial Fellowship Program. The judge wanted to know if some level of corruption is necessary at certain stages of economic development. I didn't have a good answer but referenced the work of one of my favorite anti-corruption academics, Yuen Yuen Ang, who tackles this question in her scholarship at The Johns Hopkins University. My colleague Catherine Tai and I were privileged to interview Yuen Yuen Ang about her groundbreaking book, China's Gilded Age, which tackles the question of "good corruption." Thank you for the invitation to speak from Melissa Mendizabal and the folks at The Presidential Precinct. It was an honor to be on a panel with Marko Grujicic, Stephen Gardner, and Pamela Wilson. https://lnkd.in/eb8JKf3P
