After nearly two years at Principle Power, I finally had the opportunity to visit one of our WindFloat® projects in operation, the Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm. Seeing these structures up close was an experience like no other. I’m beyond grateful for this experience and, also, for our guests' patience today. Although safe, with waves higher than one meter and wind speeds of around 15 km/h, going offshore was quite an adventure! Thank you for joining! Thank Greg Campbell-Smith and Aaron Smith for being my partners in crime today. Thank you Ricky Greenhowe for supporting us. Next up: the Floating Offshore Wind Conference by RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables! Be sure to stop by our booth, J53, to say hello, and don’t miss Greg’s presentation on Friday! #PrinciplePower #floatingwind #windfloat #Marketing #Communication #Branding #Communication

Offshore Renewable Energy Executive, 20+ years Capital Project experience

We have been so lucky with the weather for our trips out to Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm. The event by Principle Power skippered by Ricky Greenhowe and hosted by the Silver Darling over the past three years has seen all planned trips make it out without cancellation. It was touch and go today as we had to bring the afternoon trip forward due to predicted high sea states. Thanks to my fellow colleagues Fabio Espirito Santo and Aaron Smith for adapting and making the day a success for our guests. Please come by our booth tomorrow at #floatingoffshorewind2024 #FOW24 to find out more about our new additions to the WindFloat product range.

The trip to #Taiwan last week was unique. Ao Zhang and I traded a conference, which was postponed due to the threat of the typhoon that changed its mind, for meetings with customers and supply chain in hotels, offices, and coffee shops around #Taipei. Unconventional but effective, and the returning sun even made possible an epic adventure outside the city! The potential of the Taiwanese #offshorewind market remains immense, with an array of local and foreign companies collaborating to deliver solutions for the market’s unique challenges, including extreme weather, limited port facilities, and a supply chain that is still trying to find its stride. Progress to deliver on the awarded 3. 1 and 3.2 fixed-bottom portfolio remains inconsistent and generally slow due to offtake and local content challenges. These hiccups have delayed publication of the rules for the #floatingwind commercial demonstration round, but the government remains clear about their intention to deploy a few 120-200 MW projects to activate the supply chains for the deeper water sites required to meet the 15 GW by 2035 goal. The Energy Administration is listening to industry, learning from the past, and seems to want to give the first floating wind projects the opportunity to be successful. From Principle Power’s perspective, this means prioritizing project deliverability over promises, technical experience over novelty, and minimizing the amount of constraints that government places on the industry. Now on to #Aberdeen for RenewableUK’s #floatingwind24 conference and some trips offshore to visit Kincardine! Hope to see many of you there!

😯 It is hard to believe that it has been a year since the last Floating Offshore Wind conference in Aberdeen! The UK government has set ambitious targets of 50GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030, including 5GW from floating wind. Despite floating wind representing 75% of the UK’s total offshore wind potential, the country has only commissioned 80 MW floating wind capacity to date. Further, the Scotwind projects awarded in 2022, which should be leading the contribution to the UK targets, continue to be stalled by uncertainties related to grid connection and path to market. Putting the failed Allocation Round 5 (AR5) in the rearview mirror, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s AR6 awarded Contracts for Differences equating to 5.3 GW of offshore wind, including the 400 MW Green Volt, which will be amongst the first commercial-scale floating wind projects in the world. While work remains to get the market back on track, Green Volt could be a turning point, priming the supply chain to prepare for the delivery of the GW of Scotwind, TOG and Celtic Sea projects that have the potential to help the UK become an industrial powerhouse in floating wind! Our extensive experience from 105 MW projects in operation or under construction, includes Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm, which features five WindFloat® foundations designed by Principle Power. With over 13 years of operational track-record, our engineering teams optimize every aspect of our technology, ensuring reliable solutions for project developers. Visit our booth J53 to connect with our experts and discuss how we can build on these experiences to collectively achieve these targets: Aaron Smith Fabio Espirito Santo Greg Campbell-Smith RenewableUK #300X30 #PrinciplePower #windfloat #renewableenergy #offshorewind #floatingwind #netzero

🇯🇵 It’s been a busy couple of months, and our next stop is Tokyo, where Ko Hosokawa, Head of Japan, will explain how Principle Power has developed WindFloat® technologies, to fit Japan's specific supply chain and metocean conditions, while ensuring the technology is standardized for mass production! In Japan, Principle Power has received Approval in Principle (AIP) from ClassNK for the 5 MW Akita project FEED design in 2016, demonstrating an important step to ensure compliance with Japan's regulations and standards. Over the last 13 years, WindFloat® foundations have operated with zero insurance claims, demonstrating their reliability. Moreover, WindFloat® was the first floating wind technology to secure bank financing and one of the first to secure non-recourse financing, including financing from Japan's Mizuho Bank, further validating the financial and technical robustness of the technology. Designed to withstand extreme weather, including typhoons and hurricanes, WindFloat® has also proven its resilience, withstanding 20-meter waves and 214 km/h winds without structural damage. Moreover, our partnership with national shipbuilders, as part of the Green Innovation Fund (GIF) Phase I project, helped Principle Power optimize the mass production of modular WindFloat® foundations. Working with local facilities a full-scale mock-up of a WindFloat® foundation for a 15 MW turbine was fabricated, leveraging Japan’s supply chain capabilities. Interested in learning more about how we continue to refine our technologies for commercial-scale projects in Japan? Save the date: October 2, at the Smart Energy Week, Makuhari Messe, Japan 🔊 13:30 PM (JST) - Ko Hosokawa speaking at the Floating Offshore Wind Seminar 🤝 15:00 PM (JST) – opportunity to meet Ko Hosokawa and Chisa Koiwa at the Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA) booth #300X30 #PrinciplePower #windfloat #renewableenergy #offshorewind #floatingwind #netzero
