Pro2Serve proudly recognizes Emma Pacer, our Business Development intern for Summer 2024. According to her supervisor, Will McDermott, Emma provided high quality support and maximum confidence in her ability to complete tasks spanning competitive intelligence, pipeline analysis, strategic planning and team development, proposal writing, and communications. Emma’s outstanding analytical abilities, combined with her solid understanding of business development concepts, excellent research skills, and tremendous writing talent, made her a solid contributor that elevated the entire Pro2Serve #BusinessDevelopment Team. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors." Emma is beginning her sophomore year at Mercyhurst University, where she majors in #IntelligenceStudies and minors in #CriminalJustice. Emma worked on several major initiatives for Pro2Serve this Summer, including strategic planning efforts and marketing campaigns. One of Emma's career goals is to acquire a job working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or become an analyst within the world of law enforcement. Throughout her time at Pro2Serve, she gained a better understanding of the strategic side of running a business, and although leaning toward a career in law enforcement, currently, she valued this internship both for the experienced gained applying analytics and strategy to solve critical business issues as well as for providing insight into the corporate world, which allowed her to strengthen her time management, professionalism, and critical thinking abilities. Outside of work and school, Emma loves to do anything outside! She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dog, Maizey. She also loves a good book, specifically a mystery. While her favorite genre of music can depend on the day, she believes you can never go wrong with country (and many at Pro2Serve agree!). Her favorite food is macaroni and cheese, and notably, she can both juggle and play the violin...presumably not at the same time, though. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would love to take a trip to Fiji to experience both the coral reefs and rainforests. Her favorite day of the week is Thursday, or "Friday Eve" as she calls it, because it means she has made it to the homestretch of the relaxation of the weekend! So, in honor of Emma, happy #FridayEve everyone!!!

Pro2Serve is proud to recognize our Architectural Intern for Summer 2024, Diego Allen. According to his supervisor, Blake Graham, RA, “Diego has been an excellent addition to our #Architectural Team this summer. From day one, he dove right in and fit right in, contributing innovative and creative solutions. He has demonstrated thoughtfulness and creativity in all his work. Whether it was providing renderings to showcase a project to a client or working with the team to figure out the details of a roof renovation, he has shown the professionalism, creativity, attention to detail, and willingness to learn that will enable him to succeed as an architect. I look forward to continuing to work with Diego and to see great things in his future.” Diego is a 4th year architecture student at the UT College of Architecture and Design at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is involved in a variety of tasks at Pro2Serve, such as producing photo-renderings of projects for marketing, bidding, and proposal purposes. He also produces write-ups of these projects as well as designing and drafting drawings. After graduation, his goal is to become a #RegisteredArchitect. He would also like to work professionally abroad. While at Pro2Serve, Diego has learned how to work in an integrated firm, in full-time collaboration with other disciplines—namely #engineering. Throughout his time here thus far, he has learned to work with the government on their projects as well as the importance of following security protocols and quality procedures. Diego has also discovered what collaboration looks like in a larger firm—open and polite communication, thoughtfulness, and an awareness of what is going on beyond one’s own work. He is very glad to have learned these, and many other lessons, throughout his internship. In his free time, Diego likes to read, go antiquing, and hang out with his friends. While he listens to a little bit of everything, his favorite genre of music is any kind of rock. His favorite food is hot fried chicken—the hotter the better! Diego likes to collect vintage equipment; he is a hobbyist audiophile. If he could travel anywhere, he would like to explore somewhere he has never been, such as Japan. Wednesday is his favorite day of the week because it feels as if he is on top of the week when he is right in the middle of everything.

Pro2Serve is proud to recognize our #Structural Engineering #Intern for Summer 2024, LaTasha Woodard. According to her supervisor, Jeff Alcorn, PE, "LaTasha has been a great addition to our Structural team. Her attention to detail and willingness to learn has enabled her to quickly get involved in various projects.” LaTasha Woodard is a second-year graduate student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is engaged in structural engineering design work for Pro2Serve. LaTasha has accomplished many tasks throughout her time at Pro2Serve thus far, such as creating a Revit model for a design related to a National Laboratory building. This internship has taught her the essentiality of peer review—especially in checking calculations—as well as design specifications. LaTasha’s internship at Pro2Serve has been very valuable to her. Working 40-hour weeks has taught her to be intentional about how she spends her time and to become a better steward of it. LaTasha has also discovered how setting goals and taking breaks while working is the key to productivity, even something as short as 15 minutes. In her free time, LaTasha enjoys writing and going on new adventures, such as going for a walk, driving to a new place, or trying out different places to eat. Her favorite genre of music is R&B, and her favorite food is a cheeseburger. A fun fact is that she has an #identical twin sister! If LaTasha could travel anywhere in the world, she would love to visit Barcelona, Spain, as she would love to visit the beaches there. Her favorite day of the week is Friday because it is the beginning of the weekend to rest and recharge.

Pro2Serve is proud to recognize our Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2024, Anna Frazier. According to her supervisor, Jeff Alcorn, PE, “Anna has been very professional during her internship: punctual, reliable, effective in performing assignments, and works well with others. Overall, she has impressed me with her adaptability and willingness to work on various tasks and projects throughout the summer.” Please enjoy getting to know Anna through the following Q&A: What degree are you currently seeking and where? "I am going into my junior year at Tennessee Technological University for my bachelor’s degree in #civilengineering." What is your role with Pro2Serve? "I am the civil engineering intern at Pro2Serve, so I get to mainly support the other civil engineers here. This includes things like creating and revising sheets for submittals, drawing up details and grading contours on #AutoCAD, and using standards to make corrections and run calculations. What are your career goals? "I would like to get a master’s degree and my P.E. license. I have enjoyed my work at Pro2Serve and would like to pursue something similar. A managerial position, like my dad’s job, sounds very appealing."   What do you wish to learn/accomplish throughout your experience? "I hoped to learn more about what it means to be an engineer and how all the concepts I’m learning about in class can be applied to a real-world project. I was also really looking forward to seeing which civil engineering concentration I might be more interested in, such as environmental, transportation, or structural." How has this #internship been valuable to you? "I’ve learned a lot about how different engineering disciplines work together on a project. It has reassured me that I thoroughly enjoy civil engineering; I’m very excited to continue working for this degree. I’ve also learned a lot about the work environment, such as how every single employee plays a crucial role in a project and how to manage working a full-time position." What are some activities you enjoy in your free time? "I love painting and doing some kind of craft, but I spend most of my free time reading." What is your favorite genre of music and your favorite food? "Right now, I have been really enjoying alternate rock. I love any kind of pasta, but my absolute favorite food is macaroni and cheese." What is a fun/unique fact about you? "I became an aunt this summer!" If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you want to go and why? "I would love to go to Greece. It’s been a childhood dream of mine, since I grew up reading kids’ books based on Greek mythology. I have also never been outside of the country, so I think it would be cool to go to Europe and see the beautiful architecture there."   What is your favorite day of the week and why? "Thursday because it always surprises me that the week is almost over. Friday wouldn’t be as amazing if Thursday wasn’t there to prepare you for it."

A couple of weeks ago, Pro2Serve attended the ETEBA: The Energy, Technology and Environmental Business Association Savannah River Federal Business Opportunities Forum in North Augusta, SC. It was great to hear from senior leaders about the upcoming opportunities to support the Savannah River Site and its important missions to address the environmental legacy, while constructing and modernizing the site infrastructure to support the NNSA's enduring mission. Hats off to ETEBA for setting a record with the number of attendees at this event! What a great time! Here are a few pictures from our time in SC!
