Today's Flash Back Friday takes us back to the 60s with even more expansion to serve a growing community. On July 29, 1966, ground was broken for Phase One of the east expansion of the hospital, which would include expanded intensive care and critical care units. The expansion would be four stories and add 700 beds to the hospital. By the time the addition was complete in 1969, the hospital also saw the first coronary bypass surgery, expanded emergency and outpatient services, and the addition of a newborn intensive care unit.
