Ammonia evaporators with hot gas defrost can experience potential damage from vapor-propelled liquid when entering the hot gas defrost cycle. To combat this, many control systems today use a pump-out cycle to ensure the removal of all liquid in the coil, but they rely on operator input to set the timing of that cycle. Proton Controls always consults with every facility to set the minimum safe times for pump-out cycles on each evaporator utilizing our controls, as they can vary from system to system. These minimums can never be overridden through our control programs to ensure safe operations in any condition. But we were wondering: Do you think there should be a global minimum pump-out cycle time for all evaporators, regardless of system design? #protonctrl #ammoniarefrigeration #industrialrefrigeration #hotgasdefrost #protoncontrols #ammonia #refrigeration #safety #industrialsafety #

After a recent compliance audit, one of our customers needed to install a pH meter for an ammonia diffusion tank. Unfortunately, their current controls integrator could not schedule the program update for two to three months, but the facility still needed to complete its compliance checklist. Proton Controls was able to assemble an enclosure with a display, wiring, and field terminals for the pH sensor within a week. This display is powered through the same loop as the sensor and also provides the signal back to the control system when it is ready for the update. If you have any custom solutions needed for your ammonia facility, let us know! #ammoniarefrigeration #ammonia #refrigerationcontrols #custombuild #nh3 #compliance #diffusiontank #ammoniasafety

A huge shoutout to all of the suppliers and manufacturers Proton Controls works with on another successful ctrl Solution! This particular project features components from WAGO, Siemens, Rittal North America LLC, NOARK Electric, and Phoenix Contact. And of course, CODESYS North America is both the heart and brain of this system! We realize that one size does not fit all, but every ctrl Solution from Proton Controls can easily fit any size. Contact us today for your next industrial refrigeration controls project! #protonctrl #industrialrefrigeration #plcprogramming #codesys #vfd #communication #ammonia #ammoniarefrigeration

The Magic of Industrial Communication The photo below shows one particular Proton Controls offering, the simplest version of the ctrlS ctrl Solution. With this panel, the Wago CC100 controller monitors basic inputs from a separate ammonia detection system, an engine room temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor pressure sensors, and local occupancy sensors to control fans, alarms, and system shutdowns for proper IIAR compliance for engine room safety. But with only four outputs in the CC100, how do we control three fans, dampers, multiple alarms, and a code-compliant system shutdown?? The basis of all Proton Controls operations: Communication Is Key! Not only do we communicate internally for optimal day-to-day operations, but we also communicate within our control systems over various protocols. Ethernet/IP, Modbus/TCP, OPC-UA, and many others are critical to all industrial control systems safe and effective operations! Any ctrl solution from Proton Controls relies on a basic and local communication setup for all operations. With a simple ethernet cable, we can not only control multiple motor drives but also receive data that would normally require many hard-wired inputs and outputs! By monitoring drive status, motor amps, motor speed, and power use, we can efficiently relay vital information to ensure the fans operate properly without additional hardware. Each ctrl Solution includes our easily accessible HMI interface, which is also accessible through any connected device. We strive to make each system a breeze for all ammonia refrigeration operators.
