Today is the 9th annual National Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Day! Here's how we're celebrating: internal demolition has begun at the future site of our #climatetech incubator on the west side of the #UCBerkeley campus, to be operated by Bakar Labs. Learn about our climate pilot program at https://bch.berkeley.edu/ (Will anyone mourn this unlovely building?)

Last week's New Energy Nexus event for CA's clean energy entrepreneurs was #NEXLEVEL 🧡 It was such a treat to learn about the transformative clean tech coming out of our state and the many resources available to founders in the space. We at QB3 and Bakar Labs are so excited to be a part of this ecosystem. Check out our pilot program to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gZQedHmw Thank you to the New Energy Nexus team for hosting and to the Berkeley Lab for the FLEXLAB tour! My favorite part of the tour? When Marco Pritoni shared that "this building spins!".

Look at all the students at Santa Cruz we introduced to entrepreneurship this summer!
On Friday we had our closing event for the QB3 at University of California, Santa Cruz Summer Undergraduate Internships Program. It was wonderful to hear about the experiences the interns had this summer during their lightning talks. I look forward to the growth of this program. I am very proud of all the work our students accomplished. Thanks to all the hosts and mentors! Baskin Engineering at UCSC

#UCSantaCruz's answer to #QWEST and #BreakIntoBiotech which Wanichaya (Noem) Noiwangklang and Katarina Klett (she/her) have developed at Berkeley. Congrats to our colleagues Asta Tijunelis Dauksa, MEd and Ed Green at QB3-Santa Cruz for their meaningful workforce development program.
This summer, QB3 at University of California, Santa Cruz launched the QB3 Biotech Undergraduate Summer Internships program, designed to give students work experience in the biotechnology field. The program connects students with paid internships at local biotech companies and UCSC labs. Over 10 weeks, 24 interns — including 13 #BaskinEngineering students — engaged in full-time, long-term research projects and received financial support from a $10,000 fellowship. Students Michael Xiong (B.S., Computer Science, ‘25) and Tanvi Damle (B.S., Biomolecular Engineering and Bioinformatics, ‘25) made impactful contributions in the fields of AgTech and genomics—areas in which Baskin Engineering excels in research and technological advancement. Xiong developed a simulation for Farm-ng's all-electric agricultural robot, while Damle analyzed soil samples in the wet and dry lab at RealSeq Biosciences — work that equips them for a career in industry. The program was led by Scientific Director and Professor of Biomolecular Engineering Ed Green with support from QB3 Administrative and Program Manager Asta Tijunelis Dauksa, MEd. We're already doing more than talking about support for #climatetech startups: You can now apply to the #BakarClimateLabs pilot program for climate entrepreneurs. Our climate tech incubator will open in 2028, but obvs the time to get started on this was years ago. We're doing the next best thing and offering: 🌎 Space (at Bakar Labs or the QB3 Garage on campus at University of California, Berkeley) -- we will expand to 10-12 companies over the next three years. 🌲 Events: Focused programming, grantwriting workshops, and high-profile events to catalyze connections among founders, investors, and partners. 🌞 Investor outreach: Building relationships through pitch days and forums to enhance opportunities. And more, including dedicated staff, mentoring, and access to UC Berkeley and QB3 resources. Learn more and get in touch at https://lnkd.in/grXXgY2J

🌟 Another #QWEST and #BreakIntoBiotech meeting for the books! Our very own Katarina Klett (she/her) Klett shared her experience and advice transitioning from undergrad to grad school and ultimately joining QB3 as our #InnovationDiscovery program manager. Great perspective on the various paths students can take after they graduate.🌟 Learn more about our #workforcedevelopment programs here https://lnkd.in/gz6YX9-n For more stories like this, follow UC Berkeley Innovation & Entrepreneurship
