Curious about how the latest tech is transforming protein analysis? Buckle up! In this exciting webinar, Dr. Michael Caldwell from the Northwestern Proteomics Center of Excellence dives deep into the cutting-edge world of top-down mass spectrometry (TD-MS) and Quantum-Si’s Platinum® system, the ultimate duo for precision protein sequencing. If you’re a scientist eager to tackle the intricate challenges of proteoform analysis, this is one webinar you don’t want to miss! Why Does It Matter? Protein variation is a tricky puzzle—it's influenced by everything from biological factors to how samples are prepared and the settings on your instruments. Traditional methods often fall short when it comes to revealing the full complexity of proteoforms. That’s where next-generation tools come in, bringing the precision you need to unlock new insights. Meet Platinum®: Your New Lab Sidekick So, what’s Platinum all about? It’s a powerful benchtop instrument designed to analyze single protein molecules with single amino acid resolution. Imagine being able to decipher the exact sequence of amino acids, one by one, revealing every twist and turn—including tricky post-translational modifications like pyroglutamate (pE). Whether you’re studying proteins like IL-6 or diving into other complex structures, Platinum gives you the complete picture, from top to bottom! The Dynamic Duo: TD-MS + Platinum® Together, TD-MS and Platinum create a dream team for protein analysis. Here’s the magic: TD-MS captures intact proteins in their natural form, minimizing those pesky modifications that can skew results during initial analysis (MS1). Then, in MS2, TD-MS digs deeper, analyzing fragmented ions to reveal hidden modifications or artifacts that could be missed by other techniques. Platinum® takes it a step further! It uses dye-labeled recognizers to identify each amino acid, then deploys aminopeptidases to expose the next one—continuing until the full peptide is mapped out, like a molecular jigsaw puzzle. With this approach, you get unmatched insight into protein structure, spotting both functionally crucial regions and those prone to modifications like pE formation. What’s In It for You? Discover how TD-MS and Platinum® work hand in hand to offer a comprehensive, in-depth view of proteins. Learn the secrets to seamlessly connecting discovery-based research with targeted protein analysis. Gain a new perspective on differentiating between native proteoforms and those altered by experimental conditions. Get ready to level up your protein analysis game! Join us for a journey through the future of proteomics and see how Quantum-Si’s Platinum® can bring precision, clarity, and depth to your research.
