Did you know queer people can sense a rainbow photo opportunity anywhere within a 3km radius at all times? Our team found this one while working from 📍 City of Melbourne’s Library at the Dock at Docklands today. Naturally we decided the sunny weather warranted ocean views while we worked our butts off on Queer Town’s FIRST Melbourne-based workshop that’s *open to the public* next Friday November 1st: ‘The Basics of LGBTIQA+ Inclusion.’ Have you been wondering what it’s like to experience a Queer Town workshop? Now you can find out: https://lnkd.in/gr8q8s7y (GREAT suggestion re. the docks Laura Donnelly 🏳️🌈 - and good to know the boat you’re planning to buy when you win the lottery 👍)

I’m SO excited to have the phenomenal Michelle Byrne give our first expert webinar on October 26th. Michelle has been such a brilliant colleague and she makes me like quantitative data. That’s how good she is! If you’re not already a member of QYRC (which is free) get on it so you can join us for this excellent event.
🌈 QYRC Webinar Series - October 🌈 We’re pleased to share that Dr. Michelle Byrne (she/her) will be presenting at QYRC’s October webinar, on Thursday October 24th at 6:30-7:30pm (ACDT)! Dr. Byrne is an adjunct research fellow at the School of Psychological Sciences at Monash University. Her research focuses on sensitive periods of brain development and puberty using longitudinal and multi-method data, and explores this from the unique experiences of LGBTQA+ adolescents and youth. Dr. Byrne’s presentation will summarise some recent research that has been completed in her Adolescent Neurodevelopmental Lab, and she will also discuss the opportunities and challenges in her career trajectory. Our webinars are hosted online across Australia and are available to all QYRC members. For QYRC members, an email will be sent out shortly containing the webinar details to join. Becoming a QYRC member is easy and FREE! All you have to do is click on the linktree in our bio, select “Join QYRC”, and enter your contact email. We hope to see you tag along for our very first webinar!

This beautiful, compassionate, innovative, *talented* human is about to take Queer Town to heights I've only ever dreamt of as a business owner 🚀 🌌 Laura Donnelly 🏳️🌈 has been a role model of mine for many years now. A digital master, an LGBTIQA+ advocate, a proud lesbian and a kickass mother in a rainbow family raising the coolest kid on the surf coast. To be able to call her a teammate as well as a friend is a true honour and a HUGE milestone in my career. Buckle up, Queer Town's digital presence and impact are about to sky rocket 👩🚀 Welcome to the team, Law. It's been a long time coming 🌈 🫶
I've been high up in the Archie Beetle Fan Club™️ since we met as baby professionals close to a decade ago. If you've seen them share stories and hold a room, you'll understand why. Archie founded Queer Town in 2018 to create more inclusive, safe spaces for LGBTIQA+ communities. This year, QT has grown exponentially, and I'm so proud to have officially joined the small but mighty troupe as Head of Digital✌🏼 I'm leading comms, content and digital product strategy, finding creative ways to ensure more people can access QT's unique brand of memorable, meaningful education and consultancy alongside super talents Archie Beetle, Alex Delaney and Kin Francis 💞 Here's Arch and I working out of Murran, an amazing First Nations hub by Ngarrimili in Geelong. Truly remote, flexible work, how and when we want is the icing on this already beautiful, big gay cake 🍰 🌈 If you're interested in LGBTIQA+ education and training or have a project you could use advice on, please sing out. You'll be hearing from me ☺️

Queer Town x City of Melbourne: our partnership grows! 🌱 Did you know Queer Town now delivers educational workshops on Child Safety and Rainbow Families? 🌈 From councils to maternal child health nurses to public facilities: these are my new favourite workshops to run. Together we explore the complex and nuanced needs of rainbow families and young people navigating a society that has not accounted for them, through story-telling, group discussion, breakout activities and info sharing. Everything from terminology to statistics to practical allyship strategies Today we focused on creating safety in public spaces: from public pools to community theatre. Remember: Rainbow families are no longer the exception to the rule - they are part of the DNA of our communities 💪🏻🏳️🌈 Reach out to Queer Town to learn more via: queertown.com.au
