Go behind the scenes with Racing Pride Aston Martin Award for Diversity & Inclusion winners Southampton University Formula Student Team visiting our partners Aston Martin F1 Team for a look around their Silverstone Technology Campus and an opportunity to speak with members of the team. We’re really proud of being able to offer this truly meaningful Award, each year recognising the IMechE Formula Student team which has done the most to promote diversity & inclusion within their society and more broadly. By celebrating the winning team, we also encourage others to think about what they can do, too, and we have seen the level of the entries rise year on year. The initiatives being developed by the teams will help open up opportunities for more people from diverse backgrounds to have a taste of motorsport and play a part in building a more inclusive industry. Last weekend we were delighted to present the Racing Pride Aston Martin Award for Diversity & Inclusion at IMechE Formula Student 2024 to Southampton University Formula Student Team 🏆 The University of Southampton team has planned and implemented a well thought out strategy over the last year to boost inclusivity across their society. 25% of the society behind the team are first generation students, at least 20 different nationalities are represented, and 44% are from ethnic minority backgrounds. Pronouns and chosen names are integrated into everyday functioning of the team, mentoring and support systems encourage the learning of new skills, and future plans include introducing audio description. They are even collaborating with National Motor Museum to create learning resources for Key Stage 3 & 4 students. In recognition of their achievement, the team enjoyed prize experiences with our partners Aston Martin F1 Team & Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd - getting to explore behind the scenes and meet the designers. Congratulations to Southampton and all of the amazing entrants to our Award this year. We’re proud to have been part of these Pride Month events in Brackley. Our ambassadors and community champions presented a panel session focused on understanding LGBTQ+ allyship and attended the Team BBQ to help spread awareness of the work we are doing and the support we can offer to team members.

Continuing our Pride Month celebrations at the AMRTC today as we hosted a panel discussion and fireside chat with our partners Valvoline Global Operations, Citi, Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd and Racing Pride. Pushing forward our inclusivity efforts by raising awareness for the LGBTQIA+ community and helping to foster a culture of acceptance in our organisation.

Celebrating Pride Month at MTC with Racing Pride! 👏🏳️🌈

It was fantastic to visit the McLaren Racing Technology Centre earlier this week with Richard Morris, Jordan Rand, Jon Holmes, Anjali Silva-Vadgama, Cammie Sturch, and Luke Pullen. Through the day Racing Pride spoke to team members across the site, hosted a panel discussion about LGBTQ+ inclusion and allyship, and facilitated a focus group session for the team’s internal LGBTQ+ network. We are proud to be working in partnership with McLaren and days like this, when we can have meaningful conversations and exchange insights, experiences, and hopes with people working within the team really help us to drive ongoing progress together. #pride #lgbtq #pridemonth #f1 #motorsport
