Building Community Through Solar.
About us
RE-volv is a climate justice nonprofit that empowers people to bring clean energy to their communities. We do this by providing solar financing to community-serving nonprofits nationwide, while educating the next generation of clean energy professionals. Over the past decade, RE-volv has supported over 70 nonprofits across 18 states make the switch to solar, which moving forward are eligible for Direct Pay tax incentives for nonprofits a part of the Inflation Reduction Act. With a focus on solarizing nonprofits in low-to-middle-income communities and BIPOC communities, we’ve seen real progress toward a just energy transition through solar education and nonprofits reinvesting solar savings into the community.

That’s a wrap on #ClimateWeekNYC! Some highlights: 1️⃣ Hip Hop Caucus' premiere of their new short film, Underwater Projects, which shares community leader perspectives of the redevelopment plan for sinking Norfolk, Virginia. 2️⃣ Invest in Our Future’s 10 Year Promise of the IRA event, which delved into how philanthropic funding is already unlocking IRA benefits for communities, as well as the work that still needs to be done to realize the historic climate bill’s potential. 3️⃣ Amalgamated Bank & Invest in Our Future's event on the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF), and how blended finance will spark an equitable, community-led energy transition. RE-volv's Andreas Karelas spoke on the panel, highlighting nonprofit solar success stories. 4️⃣ Honnold Foundation and Kara Solar's screening of their new short film, River of Spirits, including a conversation on the power of Indigenous storytelling. 5️⃣ Project Drawdown, B Lab and Forum for the Future's event on integrating climate justice principles & human stories into the foundation of organizations’ and businesses’ work. Key themes: ⚡ Intentional partnerships and collaboration are key: We must ensure all stakeholders are a part of the conversation and center local wisdom and perspectives when making decisions. ⚡ Direct Pay is game-changing! As we heard it come up in various discussions, this provision of the IRA will enable an accelerated energy transition that benefits all. ⚡ Real momentum is underway: Last year, there was a record-breaking $88B invested in clean energy in the US!
