Education -- The Engine of Opportunity
About us
Academic excellence refers to a student’s ability to perform, achieve and excel in scholastic activities. Achieving academic excellence requires that schools have knowledgeable district leaders, effective and empowered teachers, and the resources necessary to inspire learning in every student. In pursuit of these goals, we develop and advance specific policy proposals to help reduce the achievement gap and lift educational and career opportunities for all students through engagement with lawmakers, state officials, local educators, business and nonprofit leaders, and the media. Additionally, now more than ever it is imperative to connect the classroom to the business world -- this way, students can learn in dynamic ways that position them for success. Industry benefits as well, since work-based learning helps to develop a Connecticut-grown workforce deep in skill, talent and diversity. Our goals include creating a mutually rewarding school-business network – one where the business provides a full continuum of work-based learning experiences and the student provides value and work product to the business. Career-connected learning allows students to see the connection between the classroom and the working world; it enables them to see the potential for their future.

There’s not a better place to be where you can make a tremendous impact on people’s lives, than in healthcare! 🩺 • Students a part of the ReadyCT program visited Hartford Hospital to learn all about the different healthcare career possibilities within our system! The students got to tour the Center for Education, Simulation, & Innovation, the LIFE STAR helipad, and got to listen to many of our executive leaders, clinicians, and department managers. • To all of our colleagues and partners who helped to put on this remarkable event, we thank you! To our students and young careerists, we’ll be seeing you soon in our system to transform the care experience for our patients and communities! • #HartfordHealthCare #HartfordHospital #CESI #LIFESTAR #ReadyCT #Connecticut #YoungCareerists

My parents and sister have a combined 105 years of service as educators in Connecticut. I was raised with a deep understanding and appreciation of the importance of education and its potential to impact and change people's lives. Today I had the opportunity to meet aspiring healthcare students from high schools across the state. As part of our partnership with ReadyCT, Hartford HealthCare hosted nearly 100 students for a day of networking and hands-on training to learn more about the healthcare industry and healthcare career pathways available to them. I am so proud of Hartford HealthCare's collaboration with ReadyCT to create access to real-world learning, educational, and job opportunities as together we create the future healthcare workforce in Connecticut. Thank you to Shannon Marimón, Rosemary Sheehan, Melanie Tucker, Liane Povilonis, Kelli-Marie Vallieres, PhD, Grace Suh and the many Hartford HealthCare and ReadyCT colleagues who volunteered their time to make today’s event a tremendous success!
