Thanks to our partners with Orange County Government Fire Rescue and OUC - The Reliable One, along with our volunteers for making the Starlight Ranch Mobile Home Community in Orlando safer from home fires. We had a great day installing free smoke alarms and educating residents on home fire safety. #NationalPreparednessMonth #NPM2024 #EndHomeFires 📸: Elena Torrealba & Emery Graham

Today and every day, we remember the lives lost and those forever changed on September 11, 2001. We honor all who answered the call on that devastating day and those who continue to rise in service. #NeverForget

The statistical peak of hurricane season is Sept. 10, and right on cue, TS #Francine has formed in the Gulf. While this storm isn't aimed at Florida, it is forecast to strengthen before it reaches landfall on Wednesday. It's timely reminder to make a plan to stay safe. This means: have a plan to evacuate and one to shelter safely at home. ➡️ If you are asked to evacuate, think about where you will go, how you will get there, where you will stay and what you’ll take with you. ➡️ If you shelter at home, be prepared for a power outage. Ask yourself how you will stay cool, make food, have clean water and communicate with others. #NPM2024

As climate disasters become more frequent and intense, the Red Cross is increasing our capacity to help those in need. We are working to strengthen local partner networks in disaster-prone counties where families are already struggling with chronic social issues. Learn how this program is building more resilient communities. #NPM2024

#TipTuesday: September is National #PreparednessMonth and we're using this time to remind you that climate disasters are happening more frequently. Today's tip is: 📝 Make a plan to stay safe. 🤔 Think about emergencies that may require your family to shelter in place (tornado) and those that could require evacuation (hurricane or flood). If you need to leave, think about where you will go, how you will get there, where you will stay and what you’ll take with you. Plan well in advance! We're here to help! #NPM2024

One year ago today, #Idalia made landfall in FL as a Category 3, devastating communities in the Big Bend area with its storm surge. Earlier this month, #Debby took a similar track, bringing heavy rainfall and localized flooding to some of the same areas. As disasters become more frequent, the Red Cross urges Floridians to take time this holiday weekend to get their households ready for emergencies. Here are some tips 👉 rdcrss.org/3MosDEQ.

The Red Cross has reached out to hundreds of neighbors in Sarasota and Manatee Counties that were flooded by #Debby. We are grateful for this group of recovery volunteers who came from across the county to meet with impacted residents at community recovery centers to offer assistance. #ThankfulThursday

We love working with partners after a disaster like Hurricane #Debby. Shoutout to Operation BBQ Relief who cooked up some hot & hearty meals in the days following the flooding. Red Cross volunteers were happy to deliver and serve some of these meals at community resource centers in Sarasota & Manatee.

It’s been 3 weeks since Hurricane #Debby made landfall in Florida, flooding entire neighborhoods in several counties. Hundreds of people -- including longtime Sarasota resident Mary Ann Miller -- sustained significant damage. Red Cross volunteers Yvonne and Pam were there to offer comfort and support through this rough time. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, volunteers are able to deliver recovery assistance into the hands of residents like Mary Ann. You can help by making a financial donation or becoming a volunteer. Visit redcross.org.
