Uniting changemakers in the fight for human rights and climate justice in the clothing industry. Take action ⬇️
About us
Today, our clothes are disposable and cheap, while the human and environmental costs required to make them are tremendous. For the millions of mostly 18 to 24-year-old women (who represent 80% of the fashion supply chain), these jobs can be the best first step out of poverty. Yet the industry is rife with low wages, inadequate worker protections, unsafe conditions, and unrest. The current system needs a remake, and we are here to do just that. Our mission is to build a conscious consumer movement. Remake tells stories that bring shoppers, brands, and makers into a movement to shape the fashion industry’s relationship with the millions of people in its supply chain. When we know their stories, we can use our collective voice and shopping dollars to improve and shape the lives of people who make our clothes.

Fashion touches all of us, but behind every garment, there’s a human story—and the fate of our planet. Right now, millions of workers in the fashion industry are exploited, working in unsafe conditions for unfair wages, while the Earth is at capacity for fast fashion’s waste, pollution, and destruction of natural resources. 💡At Remake, we fight every day to change this. Your donation fuels our mission to hold brands accountable, protect garment workers’ rights, and push for systemic change that prioritizes both people and the planet. Every dollar counts. You can help us drive real change today—help us remake the world for the people who make our clothes and for the planet we all share. Share and make a donation here: https://lnkd.in/gB3rZfJS Thank you for all of your support! 💚

We're excited to announce that Remake's Founder & CEO Ayesha Barenblat is a part of Country & Town House inaugural Future Icons Power People 2025 alongside leaders like Sir David Attenborough, The Prince and Princess of Wales, Mikaela Loach, and more! This spectacular group of 50 global leaders and change makers are helping to make our planet a cooler, fairer, happier place. What an honor! Since 2015, Remake has fought for climate justice and human rights in the fashion industry through research, advocacy, and organizing. Our viral campaigns like #PayUp helped recoup billions of dollars in unpaid wages for garment workers, and most recently pushed international brands like Levi's to sign the International Accord for garment worker safety. We continue advocating for ethical labor practices behind the scenes, and fighting for justice for the most marginalized voices in the fashion industry. We're so proud of you, Ayesha! In a world where we are consuming more than ever before and buying new has become the default, choosing to disengage from consumption culture is a bold and creative act of resistance. It’s a conscious decision to step outside the cycle of fast fashion, planned obsolescence, and the endless pursuit of the next big trend. By opting to reuse, repurpose, and restyle what we already own, we challenge the very systems that promote overconsumption and waste. When we resist the pressure to constantly buy new, we begin to question the values behind mass production and consumerism. We start to see that our worth isn't tied to owning the latest product or trend. Instead, we learn to appreciate the longevity and creativity that comes with making the most of what we already have. It’s more than just an act of non-consumption—it's a step toward dismantling the systems that perpetuate environmental degradation and social inequity, making room for new ways of living that are kinder to both people and the planet. "The person who dies with the most stuff, DOES NOT WIN." 📣 We’re proud to partner on Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy, a new Netflix documentary🎥 premiering November 20, that uncovers how fast fashion giants manipulate consumers into overbuying, while exploiting labor and causing environmental destruction. This film dives deep into the toxic practices driving this massive industry, exposing the system behind the shopping frenzy. ☣️ 🍿Watch the trailer now and mark your calendars, holidays are such a poignant time to be reminded of the systems exploiting us. 🗓️ #BuyNowDocumentary #FastFashionRevealed #HumanRights #ClimateCrisis #netflixoriginal #netflixseries #holidayshoppingmadeeasy #slowfashionmovement

As we approach the holidays, we're looking to the #NoNewClothes challenge to guide us through this season of overconsumption with intention. So far, the #NoNewClothes community has saved $2,416,986 dollars from not buying new clothes, and prevented 2,594,457 KG of carbon dioxide equivalent from entering the atmosphere! If you're continuing #NoNewClothes throughout the holiday season, or just getting started on your journey, check out this article by our community member Rachel Cross on the process of grief associated with ending your relationship with fast fashion: https://hubs.li/Q02W8rJ80

Autumn invites us to slow down, reflect, and restore our connection to both ourselves and the world around us. It's a season to embrace our values not just through everyday practices, but reflecting on collectively challenging industries to prioritize ethical production, sustainability, and fair labor practices. In a season that corporations beg for your attention and to overconsume during holidays, choose to slow down. How are you embracing the #NoNewClothes challenge this fall?

"Most EU fashion companies are not the megabrands that drive the industry globally, but are small to medium sized enterprises. Tuscany is no exception. Several small fashion brands in Florence and the surrounding area are responding to the EU call for an ethical fashion industry with a lot more seriousness than big brands, even though they lack big brand budgets." In our latest for Remake Times, Alison Morse explores how Tuscany brands are combatting the fast fashion business model: https://lnkd.in/gP_j7HAR
