Rho Impact is proud to be a corporate partner of University of Virginia's Decarbonization Corps, launched by UVA's Environmental Institute last summer! Alongside other VA companies - including Oakencroft Farm, The Nature Conservancy, and Ash Grove Cement Company - Rho recently teamed up with students and professionals from across the University of Virginia system to develop a novel decarbonization framework for the healthcare sector. "Barring significant regulatory change in the health sector, decarbonization will only be successful if it aligns with financial goals, " said Dr. Matthew Meyer. "Working with a company like Rho Impact allows a clinician-researcher like me to elevate sustainability opportunities in the healthcare space and get external validation on their potential." According to the study, the potential impact of the decarbonization framework on hospitals in the United States includes: -43% Reduction on Industry GHG Emissions -166, 840 Disability-Adjusted Life Years Saved -$12,127,290,000 Billion in Cost of Carbon Saved And this is just the beginning. Karen McGlathery, director of UVA's Environmental Institute, is excited for what the future holds. Regulators in every pocket of the globe are chasing down dubious impact and net-zero claims. Even 'down unda!'
