Creative Director Katherine Harvey penned a piece for Fast Company discussing how the recent Palisades and Eaton wildfires in Los Angeles present a crucial opportunity to create a more resilient future for the city. Introduced by Co-CEO Jessamyn Davis, Katherine shares how her experience as a Los Angeles resident, Landscape Architect, and academic researcher emphasizes that this critical moment requires more than just recovery; it calls for a collective reimagining and proactive action. She outlines how we can turn urban challenges like wildfires into chances for meaningful change—a philosophy that has guided RIOS' work for the past 40 years. The piece raises important questions for designers and urban developers: How can we move beyond Los Angeles's historically fragmented approach to urban development? What lessons can we learn about cross-agency collaboration from successful models like the LA Metro transit system? Read her perspective on engaging and collaborating to envision and create a more livable, vibrant Los Angeles while honoring our history and emerging future. https://lnkd.in/gis4rMiT #RIOS #RIOSImagines #FastCompany #UrbanDesign #Resilience #LosAngeles #ClimateAction #SustainableDesign #ThoughtLeadership
