The former Kosmos cinema in Zhytomyr became the focal point of discussion during the first Urban Forum, organized as a two-day hackathon. Experts from Ukraine, Estonia, and the Netherlands came together to explore new solutions for the future of the cinema building and the surrounding area. Urban forums play a key role in engaging communities in the transformation of urban spaces. Each forum provides a platform for local residents, professionals, and city authorities to collaboratively shape the vision for their cities. These events integrate best international practices while addressing local needs. Ro3kvit systematically promotes participatory approaches in Ukraine, recognizing that community engagement is a fundamental principle of urban development — one that ensures sustainable and livable spaces. The Kosmos cinema and its adjacent territory require reorganization and rethinking. Its revitalization is only possible with the active involvement of the community — because it is the residents who should decide the future of this place. The cinema has the potential to become a hub for cultural and social initiatives, contributing to the city's and community’s development. 📌 Swipe through the carousel for more details and share the story about Kosmos 🤍 The urban forums are organized by the Estonian Association of Architects and the Ro3kvit Urban Coalition for Ukraine, in collaboration with the city of Zhytomyr. The forums are funded by the European Union as part of the international cultural project "UREHERIT: Architects for Ukraine's Heritage". UREHERIT #UREHERIT #UrbanForum #KosmosCinema #Zhytomyr
