Today, #RPA is taking decisive action against one of the world’s most urgent and overlooked public health emergencies—lead poisoning. Through the Eliminating Lead Poisoning Innovation Fund, we’re driving bold innovations to transform how we detect and combat lead exposure, particularly in low- and middle-income communities that have been neglected for far too long. In partnership with UNICEF and USAID’s Partnership for a Lead-Free Future, RPA will leverage its global philanthropic network to convene an advisory board of experts and community members on the frontlines of this crisis. At RPA, we believe in the power of innovation to unlock solutions. From low-cost, portable tools that detect lead in homes and schools to groundbreaking new technologies, the Eliminating Lead Poisoning Innovation Fund will surface and scale transformative solutions. We’re not just addressing a symptom—we’re tackling the systems that allow this kind of inequality to persist. #RPAImpact #LeadFreeFuture Learn more about the Eliminating Lead Poisoning Innovation Fund: https://lnkd.in/diXEHtZb

In closing out Climate Week NYC, we're spotlighting an organization from the opposite side of the country. #RPA sponsored project, Accelerate Resilience L.A. (ARLA), envisions Los Angeles as a climate-resilient region that is safer, healthier, and more prepared for our increasingly dangerous climate reality. ARLA supports the implementation of community-driven living infrastructure at scale across Los Angeles County, advancing community resilience, stabilizing local climates, and regenerating interconnected social and ecological systems. In 2022, Drive Electric launched the Leapfrogging to E-mobility Acceleration Partnership (LEAP) Fund to support low-carbon transitions by investing in electric transportation technology. As part of the fund’s first phase, 10 projects in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia received grants totaling $1 million. As the globe gathers at the United Nations General Assembly and Climate Week NYC this week, we're proud to spotlight the LEAP Fund as an #RPA partner. We are excited to announce our speakers for the 2024 APF Conference. RPA currently advises on and manages more than $500 million in annual giving by individuals, families, foundations, and corporations while serving as a fiscal sponsor for over 100 projects. Previously, Ms. Mapp was President and CEO of the Global Fund for Women and, before that, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global, the international arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, with regional and country offices in Africa and Latin America. It's alarming to learn that despite claiming more lives annually than HIV and malaria combined, only $15 million a year is spent by donors to combat the lead exposure crisis. Today at 2pm EST, #RPA President and CEO Latanya Mapp will join UNICEF’s Executive Director, @Catherine Russell, and USAID Administrator, Samantha Power, to discuss actionable steps toward a lead-free future for all children. #philanthropy #LeadFreeFutureForEveryChild Join the discussion here: https://lnkd.in/gmhznrMi
I was shocked to discover that in many low- and middle-income countries, 1 in 2 children have elevated levels of lead in their blood. Even more alarming, despite the fact that this issue claims more lives annually than HIV and malaria combined, the global response has been woefully inadequate — just $15 million a year is being spent by donors to address this issue. This is not enough. How is it possible that such a critical environmental and public health issue, affecting millions of children, is not commanding more attention or investment? Today, USAID and UNICEF are joining forces with governments and public & private sector partners to change that. I’ll be joining UNICEF’s Executive Director, Catherine Russell, and USAID Administrator, Samantha Power 𝐓𝐎𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐚𝐭 2𝐩𝐦 𝐄𝐒𝐓 to discuss how we can tackle lead exposure, save lives, and create a healthy, lead-free future for every child. Tune into the livestream here: https://lnkd.in/e-S_Pgu4 #LeadFreeFutureForEveryChild
