MiA is doing vital work in our community, supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in a culturally responsive way. 🎉 Behind-the-scenes post! Collaborating with Jesús and his team at the Family Registration & Orientation Center (FROC) was an educational whirlwind, as we produced a quick-turnaround set of Language Access Training videos. The FROC assists Spokane families in over 70 languages!!! These trainings will be part of their program development to ensure every family can access school resources smoothly and equitably. 🎓 Thank you, Spokane Public Schools, for your dedication to inclusivity and for investing in Language Access! This 4th of July, we celebrate the values of citizenship, freedom, justice, and neighborliness. We feel such gratitude for the folks at Refugee and Immigrant Connections Spokane, Manzanita House, Feast World Kitchen, and the many other community organizations and partners who support our newest neighbors from all over the world! 🌍🇺🇸 We had the opportunity to film part of World Refugee Day, including the naturalization ceremony amid wild winds and thundering rain; the joy and pride shone through! 🌦️ A special shoutout goes to artist Jiemei Lin for creating the beautiful World Refugee Day logo, along with so many lovely murals around the Spokane Region! 😍 #CelebratingCitizenship #WorldRefugeeDay #IndependenceDay

City of Spokane water customers, we have an exciting contest to share with you! One initiative we've collaborated on over the last several years is the Water Wise Challenge with our friends Water Wise Spokane. The Challenge challenges you to reduce your water usage by at least 10% during summer's hottest months, July and August. The only competition is yourself - you're competing against your water consumption from 2023. Challengers who reduce their water use by 10% or more will receive a credit on their water bill! Not sure how to start? Check out WaterWiseSpokane.org for tips and while you're there, sign up for an efficiency checkup. Their team will help you identify ways to save water. They can even help program your irrigation controller to optimize watering and follow the odd/even watering schedule - all for free!
