About us
Located deep in the heart of the Alamo City for more than 100 years, San Antonio ISD is Bexar County’s third-largest school district, serving more than 45,000 students. Because SAISD recognizes that education is not a "one size fits all" package, we offer more choices than any other Bexar County-area school district for students to pursue special interests and career goals, as well as learning environments that best meet their individual needs. We offer a wide variety of programs, including dual-language and bilingual, career exploration and college-preparation. Along with traditional school models, we also offer academies comprising non-traditional grade ranges such as PK-8. Non-boundary choices include 13 magnet programs and 20 specialized schools with diverse areas of focus and innovative methods of instruction. Unique to SAISD are the city’s only public Montessori school, only public all-girls and all-boys schools, only 100 percent dual-language school, and the only District to offer the renowned international baccalaureate program at the elementary, middle and high school levels. SAISD employees enjoy opportunities in a wide variety of settings. We offer competitive salaries, low-cost health benefits and a dual pension plan - Social Security and TRS (Teacher Retirement System of Texas). Come join us at SAISD where we are changing lives one student at a time.

THANK YOU, Bank of America! Your partnership in creating more opportunities for workforce development for our students and the future of our communities. We wouldn't be able to do this work without support from our business community. When our students thrive, our city thrives. Stay tuned to learn more about the progress of this program. #PublicEdcuation #EducatorGrant #WorkforceDevelopment
Bank of America partners with the SAISD Foundation and SAISD CTE to remove employment barriers and prepare students for high-demand careers in San Antonio ISD. The grant will empower Lanier High School, students in the Automotive Technology Program to gain access to eight new Ohm’s Law and DC Circuits Trainers, industry-standard tools that will enhance their skills in automotive technology and electrical theory. This hands-on experience will set them up for certification and career readiness right after high school. Additionally, the grant will support the purchase of key equipment like brake pads, tires, and oil, giving students real-world experience in the community repair shops. These opportunities will not only build their expertise but also empower the West Side community. It was a true honor to be part of such a special and memorable celebration! A heartfelt thanks to Anna Hill, Jennifer Cantu, Ventura Perez III and Cecilia Shedarowich. A sincere thank you to Carrie Smith, Judy Geelhoed, Kimberly Garcia and Mary Flannigan, MBA, being a small part of something so impactful has been transformative. The Foundation’s work has left a lasting impression on me.

The area under Interstate 35 near Houston Street got a little bit brighter thanks to a group of more than 30 committed National Art Honor Society students from the Young Women’s Leadership Academy. They were chosen to participate in the Youth Revival Paint Jam Oct. 19 in partnership with City Problem Solvers which aimed to add value to the neighborhood by painting vibrant murals on the expressway support columns underneath I-35. The students learned about patience and collaboration as they created lasting art on the 18-foot pillars. Help us build our SAISD Archives! The district is curating an online museum and image repository that celebrates our district's 125-year history and historical treasures! We’re starting with stories and memories behind the schools that were closed as part of the 2023 rightsizing decision. Did you or a family member attend or work at a now-closed SAISD school? We want to hear your stories and see your treasured artifacts. Help us preserve these memories! Share them at: https://lnkd.in/g_TMNjcv

For Maricela Alarcon, Ed.D., coming to CAST Med and CAST Imagine this year was really a homecoming. The south side native and graduate of Brackenridge High School has a 10-minute commute down Military Drive from her home to the schools’ shared site, which is another 10 minutes from where she grew up in the Lone Star area, allowing her to attend Briscoe Elementary and Harris Middle Schools. “I’m a Southsider,” Alarcón said. “The reason I got my doctorate and the reason I serve as principal on the south side is that I want my students to know that no matter where you come from and who you are, you can accomplish anything in life as long as you have ganas — the will, the grit, the determination.” (CLICK BELOW TO READ MORE) #saisd #saisdproud #saisdalumni #saisdfamiia #principal #educator #schools #schoolleaders
