Fresh off the Summer Olympics screenings, we couldn't help find some parallels in Charles Michelson's latest article in understanding what makes something 'legacy' status.
In week 2 of our thoughtful article series, I get to weigh in on one of my favorite topics: Community. Would love to hear about what community means to you in the comments below ⬇

We are honored to have collaborated with RDG Planning & Design and ANF Group, Inc. on Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) new Research, Development, and Training Center. This state-of-the-art facility, unveiled at last week’s ribbon-cutting ceremony represents a significant step forward in enhancing public safety. The lobby was designed as a place of reflection and to pay homage to the 17 students and staff who lost their lives on February 14, 2018 during a tragic school shooting that rocked our community. We’re proud to contribute to a building that will play a vital role in training our officers to be the best responders, ensuring the highest levels of safety for our community for the next generations. #ArchitecturalExcellence #PublicSafety #CommunityFirst

Thrilled to share this fantastic news! Congratulations to SMA’s very own Charles Michelson on receiving the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida’s 2024 Lifetime Service Award! 🏆 Charles's journey with the Girl Scouts began nearly 25 years ago when he volunteered his expertise to make camp mobility accessible to all. His dedication has truly made a lasting impact, proving that a single act of service can transform lives. Here's to Charles and all the incredible volunteers who inspire and empower future generations of girls. Your commitment makes the world a better place! 💚 #GSSEF #GirlScouts #LifetimeServiceAward #CommunityImpact #Leadership
Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida is thrilled to announce the recipient of our 2024 Lifetime Service Award: Charles Michelson, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, and president of Saltz Michelson Architects! 🏆 His involvement with Girl Scouts started almost 25 years ago when he volunteered his professional expertise for a property task force that would successfully add a ramp to cabins at camp so they could become accessible to members with differing mobility needs. Thinking his involvement with Girl Scouts was a one-time opportunity, his mind was forever changed when he met the father of a Girl Scout who got her wish of experiencing camp for the first time as it was now accessible because of a ramp Michelson helped build. "Receiving this Lifetime Achievement Award is a profound honor. It's about our collective commitment to empower future generations of girls," says Charles. We couldn't agree more! Thank you, Charles, and to all our volunteers who make a difference every day 💚 #GSSEF #GirlScouts #LifetimeServiceAward
