    Fun and clever post on using MaxDiff survey results to predict the CRAZINESS that happened at the 2024 March Madness college basketball tourney in the USA! Our MaxDiff model led to predictions that would have ranked in the 84th percentile among all tournament brackets submitted to ESPN. Sawtooth Software's Cameron Halversen did a great job with this blog and the analysis. He explains MaxDiff in an intuitive way. He then demonstrates how to use the MaxDiff results to not only predict the likelihood of winners for games that were played, but also the likelihood of winners for matches between teams that didn't take place. We're not saying a MaxDiff survey conducted among a sample of nerdy market-research interested respondents can predict basketball outcomes especially well! But, this example involving MaxDiff highlights its strengths as a general measurement tool in marketing research, economics, and the social sciences. If you're trying to get non-research/non-stats folks interested in the technique...and if those folks have an interest in basketball, then this easy-to-read blog might be the ticket!
