🎓 Fellowship Reflections from a Graduating Leader 🎓 It’s hard to believe, but with the support of Texas Education Agency's School Action Fund Grant, SEN has launched almost 40 new schools in Texas with innovative school models. The best part of this work is supporting the growth of new school leaders. When asked, "How has participating in the Fellowship benefitted your school community?" this leader shared: "I have grown as a leader and further developed in my skills when it comes to communication, accountability, and feedback. Recruitment and retention was something that I learned a lot about during my first year, which I am so grateful for. The School Quality Reviews were powerful, and I'm thankful for those as well." It's incredibly rewarding to see the impact the Fellowship has on leaders and their school communities. We look forward to continuing this work of supporting transformational leadership and creating positive outcomes for students! 🤝 Strengthening Our Team to Empower Schools! 🌟 At School Empowerment Network, we are deeply committed to building and sustaining the best team so we can support school leaders around the country. To keep this commitment, we dedicate time each year to gather our entire team for an org-wide retreat. This past week, the entire SEN team met in New Haven, Connecticut to build relationships and learn together. A highlight of every retreat is a school visit, which helps us center on the purpose of our work. We were thrilled to visit New Haven Academy, an innovative school dedicated to providing a rigorous education that prepares all students to succeed in college and become active citizens. In addition to learning, there was also some celebrating. Both Emily Schneider-Krzys and Adam Paredes were honored for hitting their 5-year anniversaries with SEN. We would not be the organization we are without their incredible work. 🧠 Diving into the Science of Learning! 📚 During the first year of our New School Design Fellowship in Texas, supported by Texas Education Agency's School Action Fund, our fellows learn a lot...ABOUT LEARNING! At our recent convening in Houston, our new fellows took an in-depth look into the Science of Learning, exploring the research behind how children learn math and reading. We believe that building a strong, shared foundation about how students learn best among our new school leaders can truly transform student outcomes throughout the state. 🎯 AUDACIOUS Goals for Future Success! 🌟 At Crowley College Prep Elementary in Crowley Independent School District, the team is committed to being AUDACIOUS in their goal-setting—for both staff and students. They believe every student deserves the opportunity to attend and graduate from college, and they’re making sure they’re well-prepared! At CCPE, students not only engage in rigorous and rewarding academics, but the campus also builds their college and career knowledge through monthly "spotlights" on different colleges and careers. These spotlights come to life through assemblies, guest speakers, and field trips, giving students and their families a well-rounded understanding of their future opportunities. We are incredibly proud to have been part of the CCPE design process and to continue supporting them with ongoing coaching and professional development through our Texas New School Design Fellowship! 🔍 Fostering Curiosity in Education! 🌱 In a recent study on the Global Talent Shortage by ManpowerGroup, one of the top 5 "soft skills" that employers are looking for but struggling to find in candidates is the ability to be curious, active learners. At SEN, we believe it is crucial to empower students to be engaged and active participants in their own learning, which is why we’re such strong advocates of the Montessori model! We’re proud to have successfully launched 4 public Montessori schools in Texas school districts, including two this year in El Paso ISD!
