Check out this interesting update from Ned Daly and Seafood2030 featuring commonalities of four leading seafood companies' approaches to sustainability and climate change. Sea Pact is fortunate to have sustainability leadership from Acme Smoked Fish Corp and Seattle Fish Company & Lombardi Brothers Meats through their membership, and to work closely with Hamish Walker in his role as a sustainability consultant to Sea Pact!
What do Hiddenfjord, Acme Smoked Fish Corp, New Seasons Market, and Seattle Fish Company & Lombardi Brothers Meats have in common? I thought it was just a focus on finding real solutions to climate change in their companies and supply chains, but in turns out they have something else in common: an approach to sustainability that resembles a research and development process resulting in a clear, differentiated set of values in their blue food offerings that fulfill demand in an increasingly inquisitive protein market. From the Issue Brief: "This intentional design of integrated solutions allows these companies to present a compelling and verifiable “whole product” narrative to the market. Intentional design also allows these companies to “sell” the values they have invested in, rather than presenting what one seafood buyer described as “a collection of sustainability merit badges” – certifications, FIPs and audits that do not tell a story or build specific values into a product, though these tools can play a role in the design of the products." Thank you Levi Hanssen, Daisy Berg, Rob Snyder, Hamish Walker, and Savanna Ronco SeafoodSource https://lnkd.in/eT4KWZEg
