Whether conducting shallow water debris mapping or deeper water underwater volcano surveys, the EchoBoat -160 USV with integrated multibeam survey system is the swiss army knife of unmanned systems. Portable. Flexible. Rugged. #unmanned #hydrographic #bathymetry #vulcanology #oceanmapping
Last week I had the opportunity to survey a rather unique location in Port Foster, inside the caldera of Deception Island, to determine if there have been any changes to the shape of this mini volcano looking mound as part of the Canadian Antarctic Research Expedition. The survey was performed with the Ocean Mapping Group's uncrewed surface vehicle R/V Frequensea, a Seafloor Systems, Inc. Echoboat equipped with a Kongsberg Maritime M3 sonar and Eos Positioning Systems, Inc.® (Eos) Arrow Gold+, which provided Galileo HAS corrections in this remote location. Special thanks to MEOPAR: Marine Environmental Observation, Prediction and Response Network for their financial funding and the Royal Canadian Navy | Marine royale canadienne HMCS Margaret Brooke for their fantastic support.
