We're thrilled to announce that our latest research on risk mitigation for autonomous inland vessels is being presented at IFAC CAMS 2024, where global experts in marine systems, robotics, and vehicles come together. Our paper "A POMDP model-based online risk mitigation method for autonomous inland vessels" introduces a cutting-edge method based on a Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) for real-time risk mitigation in autonomous surface vessels (ASVs). As ASVs become increasingly vital in the maritime industry, addressing risks from internal and external factors like traffic, weather, and faults is crucial. Unlike traditional methods, our approach considers both the vessel’s guidance and control systems, ensuring safer and more reliable operations. Some say mothers and daughters can do just about anything. 😇 Our researchers say they can even solve traffic jams and make sure your goods reach the small ports. How? They say feeder loop services are the future of waterborne transport. 😊 https://lnkd.in/d9ySnZ8R Odd Erik Mørkrid, Espen Johansen Tangstad, Arne Fredheim, SEAMLESS Project, Trondheim Havn IKS, Bergen Havn, North Sea Container Line AS, Vegar Johansen
