Today we're spotlighting Jacqueline Braden, Application Support Engineer here at Sequoia, who shares why #BreastCancerAwareness is important to her. "When I was in grade school, my mom went back to school to become a Mammographer, (someone who uses X-ray images to screen people for breast cancer). Since then, women’s health and wellness have been an open discussions in our household. Breast cancer may not seem like the most common dinner table talk, but it was never a taboo subject in our family. I’ve seen the impact my mom has had on people when they are at a critical time in their lives when there seems to be more questions than answers. I have also seen the impact of spreading need-to-know information, sharing resources, and volunteering with organizations who are doing the work. This month I’ll be participating in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. I invite you to join me and see what opportunities may be going on near you." ICYMI, here are three key themes from the panel "Compliance Hot Topics: What Employers Must Know to Mitigate Risk" at the Grove Conference. 1) Growing companies have several risk areas - - from the Affordable Care Act and the Form 5500 filing requirement to employee misclassification, location tracking for remote-first companies, mergers & acquisitions, and transitioning to self-insurance. 2) As legislation and litigation continue to evolve, the importance of fiduciary responsibility and setting up solid internal processes, such as monitoring the performance of third-party administrators, is paramount. 3) Working with a trusted partner who invests in compliance tools and technology, like Sequoia, will help you navigate the complicated compliance landscape, especially with regard to state-based regulations. A big thank you to our moderator Kristen Peed and our panelists Joanna Castillo, Sheldon Blumling Fisher Phillips, Stacy Barrow Barrow Weatherhead Lent LLP, Diane Cross, Nelsie Nelson PharmD, MBA for their invaluable insights.

We asked Shannon Arens, moderator of the Grove Conference panel "Finding the Balance: Employee Care vs. Cost Management" to share her key takeaways from her two sessions. The biggest? "Employers are integrating diverse data points—claims data, survey feedback, demographics, peer benchmarking, trends/insights, and company values—to create comprehensive benefits strategies. They’re not just looking at utilization to measure ROI, but also benchmarks and employee retention data." Shannon also emphasized the importance of going back to basics to encourage preventive care. "Employers are ensuring employees understand their benefits and can find primary care providers, sometimes bringing back onsite screenings, flu shots, and mobile mammograms. Taking a proactive approach goes a long way in ensuring medical plan savings." Big thank you to our panelists on both coasts: Aaron Smith UnitedHealthcare, Juliette Monser AppLovin, Elizabeth Thomas Handshake, Brett Burlin, Toni Fritz Chobani, Annie Trombatore Vox, Matson Conrad Rightway #GroveConference2024 #EmployeeCare #BenefitsStrategy #FutureOfWork

What an incredible experience at #GroveConference2024 in New York yesterday! Our keynote speakers, Mark Cuban and Glen Tullman captivated our audience with their suggestions for scaling companies and tackling one of the costliest challenges employers face today: rising healthcare costs. Breakout sessions were packed, and the energy from our client community coming together in person was spectacular. A heartfelt thank you to our clients and team members who made our Grove events, both yesterday in New York and last week in San Francisco, so special. Many more photos to come soon! #GroveConference2024 #ClientCommunity #Leadership
