On 22 October, Severe Tropical Cyclone Trami passed over the Philippines, bringing heavy rains that caused deadly floods and landslides. The storm gained little media attention, but the level of destruction is immense. Our team in the Philippines are gathering as much information as they can to determine the extent of the damage. With aid prepositioned in Cebu, we are ready to support thousands with emergency shelter. Don't let Sudan become a forgotten crisis It has been over a year since #Sudan erupted into civil conflict. Since then, countless people have lived through a nightmare of displacement and unspeakable atrocities. More than 10 million people are uprooted, including 2 million who are seeking refuge in neighboring countries. #Chad, one of the poorest countries in the world, is currently hosting the largest number of refugees and returnees. Nearly 1 million people have crossed over from Sudan, and more are arriving every single day. While Chad continues to welcome people fleeing the conflict, it is struggling to meet the needs of those fleeing the violence. "We are alive. Where there is life, there is hope. We will be back, and we will be back stronger. We just need the help." Born in Petite Martinique, 65-year-old Lucy lives on Carriacou island, where earlier this year Hurricane Beryl left a trail of destruction. When the hurricane hit, Lucy was unable to evacuate. She and her son endured the storm at home, praying the walls wouldn't collapse on them. She recalled "You could the force of the wind going... We stayed in the bathroom until everything was over. When we came out, everything had disappeared around us." Lucy and her family received a ShelterBox tent and other household items like a mosquito net, a kitchen set, and a solar light. Lucy told us "I got the tent, which I love, so bad. I love it, I love it, love it, love it.... The light is wonderful.
