Our Co-Founder Timothy Bossidy spoke to Patrick Fitzgerald at Reorg about the Department of Justice’s decision to remove Section 280E of the Internal Revenue Code and the impact that this will have on the cannabis industry. While Tim says cannabis companies, especially multistate operators (MSOs), can anticipate significant improvements in cash flows in the short to intermediate term, competition from the legacy market will remain a price-attractive option for consumers. Over the last few months, Larry Perkins, Jun Song and the SCP team have been working to save San Francisco’s beloved Anchor Brewing Company. We are now happy to announce that SCP has completed the Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors process and Anchor Brewing Company will live on under the leadership of Hamdi Ulukaya. Congratulations to all parties on this magnificent outcome. Jun Song shared a beautiful reflection below on the experience and how caring leads to success.
In the latest example of Caring = Success, it started with a fondness for a brand, which grew to a fondness for its stakeholders, which grew to a fondness for an entire city. SierraConstellation Partners' mission to save Anchor Brewing Company resulted in numerous deals, collaborations and partnerships with great people, companies and organizations of San Francisco and the Bay Area. The passion created a traction that warranted a new chapter, which was keenly recognized at the other end of the country by renowned humanitarian and celebrated entrepreneur, Hamdi Ulukaya. Yesterday, after a months-long ABC (Assignment for the Benefit of Creditors), we placed Anchor in his capable, caring hands. His mission is not simply to revive a company, but rather to use brand to build community, just as he's done with Chobani and La Colombe Coffee Roasters, and to help drive a renaissance of one of the greatest cities in the world. Congratulations, Anchor and SF. Congratulations, Hamdi - and thank you for caring. I won't say, "I left my heart in San Francisco…" but clearly, I sort of did.
