The Sitar Arts Center is close to my heart. I believe in how this special organization is supporting and inspiring young people to reach their potential with and through the arts and community. In a time where it’s easy to see what isn’t working, a gathering of people who bring their best selves in service to tomorrow’s leaders is a place I am always game to be! Here are a few glimpses of a recent Sitar event. This eve felt like a catalyst to my fall. Thank you, Maureen Dwyer, Samantha Dean, CFP®, Jade Floyd, Essence Newhoff, Carroll Dey and others for bringing us together to lift up young people!

Congratulations to Camille Brown on receiving a Teiger Foundation grant to support the upcoming 2025 exhibition, "Essex Hemphill: Take care of your blessings," at The Phillips Collection! 🎉 Camille was our final featured guest in our 2024 Artist at Work series, where she shared her passion for bringing this important exhibition to life and introducing Essex Hemphill's legacy to a wider audience. We're so proud to see her vision coming to fruition! Watch Camille's inspiring conversation with our series moderator Charis Gomez (Hanner) to learn more about her work: https://lnkd.in/eaEWkDQT.
We are thrilled to share that Camille Brown, The Phillips Collection Associate Curator, has received a Teiger Foundation grant to support our 2025 exhibition Essex Hemphill: Take care of your blessings. This special exhibition charts the relationship between the writings of poet and activist Essex Hemphill and contemporary visual art. Born in Chicago and raised in Washington, DC, Hemphill emerged as a luminary in the DC arts scene of the 80s and 90s. While Hemphill died of AIDS-related illness at just 38, his work persists, reflected in visual dialogues with his contemporaries and inheritors. Congrats to all of the 2024 #TeigerFoundation grantees! 📸 Camille Brown. Photo: Daniel Graindorge.
