The selection results showed that Ukraine will be represented by 15 tech startups, including SmartZavod 💪🏻 Thank you for believing in us! 🧑🔧⚙️ SmartZavod, a participant in initiatives and trade missions supported by USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine (USAID CEP), is a startup that has developed a fully automated hybrid 3D printer capable of replacing an entire laboratory for manufacturing prototypes. The main advantage of this development lies in its ability to produce complex and precise parts from composites, engineering polymers, silicones, or their combinations without requiring excessive investments in equipment or intricate manual work. "We aim to break the stereotype that only the IT sector is powerful in Ukraine. Our product demonstrates that the tech manufacturing industry is also thriving, and we have something valuable to offer the world," says Oleksii Solntsev, co-founder of SmartZavod. In September 2022, SmartZavod became a participant in Startup Campus 2022 as part of the YEP "Entrepreneurial University" initiative, supported by USAID CEP. The startup secured UAH 100,000 during the final event of the campus—Student Startup Battle. These funds, along with the support of Bayern Innovativ, enabled the startup to showcase its first prototype at Formnext 22, the largest international exhibition for experts in industrial 3D printing, held in Frankfurt. 🌎 With the support of USAID CEP, the startup team presented its development at technology exhibitions such as CES 2023, the world's largest technology conference, and Nordeep Summit, a European technology conference focusing on deep tech. Due to the startup's entry into the Association of Industrial Automation of Ukraine / APPAU, SmartZavod secured funding through two open rounds of cascade funding from Horizon 2020, totaling €120,000, along with the opportunity to launch pilots in collaboration with partners.
