At Smithfield, we proudly serve those who served us, our veterans. In North Carolina, we recently joined the Triangle Veterans Wellness Outreach Center for their Veterans Stand Down event. This event provides 1,200 veterans and their families with access to professional medical personnel, assistance with VA benefits and claims, resources on housing, lunch and more.

In St. Charles, IL, our team and facility are partnering up to put hunger on the back burner this fall with a 15,000-pound product donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank in Geneva, IL. Smithfield Foods CEO Shane Smith today joined Ray Starling, Butterball, LLC's Jay Jandarin and BASF Agricultural Solutions' Paul Rea at the NC Chamber's Ag Allies Conference to discuss North Carolina's position as an agricultural leader and its ability to have a global impact. Smithfield proudly employs 10,000 North Carolinians, partners with hundreds of North Carolina hog farmers and operates six facilities in the state.

The devastation wrought by Hurricane Helene has left countless families across Western North Carolina without homes, basic necessities like water and electricity, and uncertain about where their next meal will come from. Each year, our employees rise to the challenge during Feeding America's Hunger Action Month and our company wide food drive. This year alone, employees came together to collect more than 32,000 pounds of food, a 28 percent increase over last year. These food items will now go to those in the communities where we operate; where our employees live, work and raise their families. Together, we are taking a bite out of hunger.

At Smithfield Foods, we take the honor of feeding our neighbors very seriously. In partnership with the Oklahoma Pork Council, we closed out Hunger Action Month today with a33,000-pound pork donation to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. With hog production operations located in Laverne, Oklahoma, we continually look for ways to give within the local community, and we are grateful to also have broader opportunities like this one to make a huge impact across the state.

Community celebrations are at the center of many rural communities, just as Smithfield ribs were at the center of the plate for the 10th annual Tri City BBQ Fest in Denison, IA. In support of this event, Smithfield Foods donated 27 cases of ribs, totaling 813.12 lbs.
